Yes, I vaguely remember that happening in the 1980s remake, and they re-surface mind-controlled by the aliens to do their bidding (why not kidnap beautiful women to take back to Mars?). I didn't see the original version.

I like the middle set the best... fewer pesky clothes on the damsels
