Hey,

I've used Bryce to create a lot of the terrains I've used in my movies. Since its free, it's a good place to start. The only pitfall is, like DAZ, it extremely limited so they can try to sell you add ons.

I like the terrain builder. It's relatively easy to get the shape just the way you want it.

Good luck,

I've had Bryce for years (back to version 5 I think) but never really used it. Older versions didn't interface very well, although I think that got fixed later. Can it create morphable terrains? I work mostly in Carrara which has great terrain tools, but I'm always looking for new tools.

Yes, you can use just about any modeling tool to create morphs. The thing you have to remember is the morph target object must have exactly the same points and polygons as the original object. All you are changing is the position of the points and polygons, there by changing the shape of the object.

When you export your objects in Bryce, they have a control that lets you determine how many points and polygons will make up your object. Just make sure you use the same setting on both objects.

Also, you should be able to create morph targets in Carrara. I’ve never used it, but I’m pretty sure all the major 3D animation software packages out there can. It’s very easy to do in Lightwave. I don’t see why Carrara would be any different.

Good Luck,
