An interesting development could be that the thick clay sits on top of more liquid clay below. So, when Erika's feet reach a depth where the mud is more liquid deeper down, she starts to sink more easily, with the thicker clay on top holding her down! Perhaps Autumn also encounters the softer stuff deeper down too, which makes it difficult for her to escape, even though she doesn't have footwear on!

Maybe after the rescue, once the fear and anxiety pass, they come to the realization they would love to do it again, but this time without boots to impede their wallowing. Maybe even returning in swimsuits. Or nothing at all...

Perhaps you could try breaking up the story and distributing it into more of your posts, such as editing your second post and sticking the second half of your story in there. If that doesn't work, and it turns out that the image limitation is associated with each page, then try inserting the second part into one of your posts on the second page.

Outstanding work Northerner! I love this series. I really like the last three panels as well, the vantage points are really cool. Love your style as well and leaving in a few of your pencil strokes as well in the finished pieces. Looking forward to more!
