Self Portrait in Quicksand

I'd forgotten this very first quicksand drawing I did a while back, until finding it down the side of my desk today! I had only drawn (well, traced

) the outlines, meaning to colour it but obviously it had slid down to where I found it before I got to do that, so did a quick colour job on it so I could post it before going away.
I hope you like it!

Trace or no, this is still a respectable work. Stylistically interesting as well, with the sort of "pop-art" feel to it making the scene seem all the more playful.

Thank you!

I was trying to use my fineliner pens as if they were pencils and just sketching as I was in a hurry using the work's lightbox at the end of the day and I didn't want anyone to see what I was drawing!

I hadn't even considered which colours to use before I found the artwork again but I have a pale brown I had been using very successfully for the quicksand base and dirtying skin and clothes (and which from the amount of use recently is starting to run out!

), with a grey 1, and a warm and cool grey 3 to build up on. I used one of those to just whack out a background to lift the highlights and dress from the paper.

Seriously, beautiful drawing of a beautiful Lady. I need to start scouting the thrift stores for a dress and belt to match those- y'know, just in case. . .
