Old vs New: Grassy Slope

Seeing that a few of our artists are redrawing their early works, I've decided to showcase one of my (really) poorly drawn pieces with something a lot more recent. It's almost embarrassing!

I like the composition with one girl sunk and the other trying to presumably help her out. In the old version of the pic it looks like the deeper girl is kinda content with where she is.

As an artist myself, I know how looking back at some of your earlier works can be an eye-opening experience. The progression is often so gradual, you don't notice it yourself. As I noted in another forum, I draw political cartoons. My caricatures of President Obama look a lot better than the ones I did of Ronald Reagan in the 1980s.
I've also noticed how much better I am at drawing women now. Twenty-five years ago, my female characters weren't as curvy or as feminine in appearance as they are now. I credit that to years of practice and field observation.
Thanks for sharing these, and here's hoping you continue to grow and improve. Even the best artists had to learn to draw first.

I've always considered myself a writer first, so being able to recognise milestones in artwork progression is always a big thing for me -- one picture at a time.

Gotta say... how the hell did I miss this thread the first time around? At least I don't remember coming across it.
That said, your most recent version is most outstanding!
Keep up the wonderful work! More importantly, be sure to have fun while you're doing it.
Thanks for sharing!
