Quicksand Fans

Danni was a low-level biker. She needed money, so she made a deal with some dangerous people. She was to simply take cartel money and pay for a shipment of drugs. She thought she could get away with just taking the money, and leaving the state. She made the deal, then she took the money and split. Chased by the cartel, she abandoned her motorcycle, and tried hiding in the old strip mine. She knew if they caught her, she was likely to face a fate worse than death.
Fortunately, she knew the old mine, or at least thought she did. She knew that if she could only make it across the abandoned coal mine, her house was only a couple of miles away, across a couple of deeply forested hills that could hide her. Deeper into the maze of scarred earth, runoff ditches and mounds of rock and sand she ran. Near the neglected silt pond, her sandals had already began to sink into the sticky silt...
