Variety Pack! 5 More Arts from Northerner...

Postby Northerner » Mon Dec 23, 2013 3:27 am

I can be hard on myself (I guess that is a core quality of being an artist!) but this was certainly my most productive year. I'm still not fulfilling any of my lofty personal dreams like selling quicksand comics or anything, but I produced a lot of artwork!

Once again to keep this interesting I've included a poll. You can select your TOP TWO favorite pictures! That's right, the poll option seems very flexible!

Quicksand Splash
nor_quicksand_splash.jpg
A blonde beauty took a wrong turn in the marsh and found herself unable to escape!
I'm always going for dynamic posing in stuff like this.

Quicksand Crisis
nor_quicksand_crisis.png
Rebecca's body hugged the slippery grass as she desperately reached for the girl.

"Please get me out of here!" the girl cried. Her eyes were wild with fear of being sucked down by such an unknown and mysterious peril.

Rebecca crushed her body against the ground as she felt herself sliding towards the mud pit. "I can't get any closer!" she sputtered. She clawed into the dirt with her anchor hand, and reached as far as she could, but it was not far enough.

In fact, the girl's hand was descending further out of reach, as the her chest was pulled down into the mud. "Oh my GOD you've got to help me~! I'm still sinking in deeper~~!"

Rebecca felt the ground beneath the grass squishing, and slowly giving way like liquid slime -- this entire place was unsafe! She gritted her teeth, trying to control her own rising sense of terror, and crawled forward, down towards the pit a few more inches. "I'm going to save you somehow!" she yelled. "Come on and reach for me! This is really our last chance!!"

Working on more multi-girl pictures since they are more interesting! A single girl trying to save herself does not seem as exciting to me ...

Sinking in Quicksand
nor_sinking_in_quicksand.png
Equipped with her practical boots and sturdy long marsh pole, thought she would be well-prepared for the sucking mud of the swamplands. The last thing she expected was to be completely humbled by it, defeated in the most dangerous way possible : trapped and sinking in a soft, gluey quagmire. Yet here she was. She fought hard to keep her legs near the surface, but it seemed hopeless, they were ultimately stuck and it seemed increasingly clear that she would not be able to reclaim them.

With these negative thoughts she could not distinguish between the sensations of her mentally sinking expectations, and her physically sinking body. The mud continued to rise closer to her waist and her attitude continued to sink as well -- it was becoming hard to maintain any hope that she would be able to escape this place.

It's great to see a helpless, despondent girl who has blundered into a large field of quicksand and cannot get out. This is one such girl!

Muddy Swimmer's Training
nor_mud_swim_training.jpg
Mud provides greater resistance than water, hence it provides an excellent means of training for serious competitive swimmers!
Yeah I did this one for the fans of one-piece swimsuits... once again, I really like the fantasy of how vulnerable and helpless people are when they are stuck in quicksand!!

Reverse Quicksand Rescue
nor_reverse_quicksand_rescue.png
You're both mired to your thighs in bottomless quicksand, but your partner unselfishly offers to help you
Another ass shot.. I chose the "climb on top of me" dialogue to make the possibilities clear: oh yes you can climb on top of her, but would it be for escape, or sexual fun times?

I put my vote in for Quicksand Crisis. It's my favorite kind of scene, and I love the perspective in that particular picture.

I had a difficult choice between "Quicksand Crisis" and "Sinking in Quicksand". Have chosen "Quicksand Crisis" eventually. But I have to say

I totally agree!
There’s so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

It is cruel to force one to just select one.... I love all of these equally... but since I'm forced... I'd have to go with quicksand crisis. Like the other say, we need more girls rescuing girls... or better yet, girls attermpting to rescue girls, then needing rescuing themselves...

Ah I will try to put out more material with quicksand rescues.
I thought the butt-focused "sexy" pictures would be more popular, I guess quicksand drama's popularity is still alive and well!
For me, it's great fantasizing that a cute girl is willing to put herself in muddy, slimy danger to save somebody else! Or at least, TRY to save them

I completely agree, and would've selected that as my second pick (you said we could select two), but looks like a limit of one after all, unless I'm missing something.

From a technical point of view, I like Splash more. You've captured the dynamics well and it's well constructed. My favourite is Crisis, however. The angle is great, the subject of the drawing has been well formulated and the details like the yoga pants/leggings and ponytail make the foreground character distinct while not taking away from the struggling victim.

Agreed with most- I like them all, but "Quicksand Crisis" seems to tell a story all by itself.
