A little something I did for Mother's Day. I know it's a week early, but still.
I actually have a 2nd one being planned out, too.
-------------------------------------------------------------
The La Brea Desert. One of Olympus's hottest deserts on Earth. This desert is well known for its many fossilized creatures that arise from the sand itself, with many other waiting to be dug up. As big as Lake Victoria & Lake Motosu combined, this desert is easily one of the biggest on Earth, losing only to the Sahara Desert itself. But, there is one more reason why the La Brea Desert earns its name: The tar pits that are always bubbling up to the surface.
Though quicksand is common here, the tar pits outnumber quicksand pits 75/25. There really is just no easy quicksand sinking here. Though not a favorite place for her, Palutena, the ever loving mother of the 1/2 Mermaid Clan itself, and one of Earth's champion heroes; alongside her her husband, has come here to search for fossils of creatures that once lived in the sea. After all, there are rock faces that are up turned slabs of prehistoric ocean floor here.
But what was the occasion? Well, today was Mother's Day! And earlier, Palutena had obtained an archeology set as one of her presents; which came complete with a very beautiful explorer's outfit, and so she has come to this exact desert to try it out. And try it out, she was. Finding a good spot to dig, Palutena was already hard at work. And already, she found herself a weath of fossils. Namely: Dinosaur teeth. She immediately picked them right up for inspection.
"Let's see here... These are all Allosaurus teeth." She says to herself. "And if my husband's not wrong, there must be... ...Ah!" Palutena soon spotted something else pointy. using a brush & pick, she discovered that it was a Thagomizer. A part of Stegosaurus. "Yep, spot on as always." Palutena says. However, she is not aware that she is not alone out here. As she unearths her fossils, someone else wandered the desert. But, one who is not from here.
Yet, this visitor was opposite of Palutena. Palutena is a magic user; the most powerful one in her family no less. But the new comer? She was built tough. A warrior no less. The muscular woman looked around the desert as she wandered through. "Strange, this is not my home of the Wastelands..." She says. "Yet it's a desert all the same... Where am I...?" As she traveled, Palutena unearthed her found thagomizer, then wiped her brow at least once.
"Whew... This desert's so hot..." She said. "Good thing I packed lots of water..." She turned to head to where she was keeping provisions, but as she walked towards it, she & the warrior woman crashed into one another, yelping simultaneously as they did and falling back onto their behinds. Palutena shook her head and quickly got back onto her feet. "Oh my gosh!" She said, running up to the woman she crashed into, just as she shook her head shortly after.
"Are you all right?" Palutena asks. "I'm so sorry, I was in such a hurry, I didn't see you!" The woman shook her head. "Ngh...! It's fine... I didn't see you either..." She said. And she was able to get back on her feet soon after. Palutena's gaze was fixated on this newcomer; especially once she was on her feet. She had to be 7'1'' at least. Palutena though? She was only 6' tall. She understandably felt a bit intimidated by the stranger's size; her physique especially.
"Please, don't be afraid." The woman said. "I am not your enemy." Palutena sighed in relief. "That's good to hear..." She said. "Oh, I almost forgot. My name's Palutena Socrates." Palutena goes onto say. "I'm the mother of the 1/2 Mermaid Clan." The woman smirked. "Is that so now?" She asked. "Yes, I'm the Mermaid mother." Says Palutena. "I see where they get that nice attitude." The woman said. "I approve. My name is Garnet." She then goes onto say.
"So you're this Garnet my daughter Aquarius told me about." Said Palutena, smiling. "You're definitely what Aquarius told me..." Garnet crossed her arms. "And what has she said about me?" She asked. "Well..." Palutena started. "She told me of a nomadic woman with an Amazonian physique, tough demeanor, but a good heart all the same." She said. "Sounds about right." Garnet said, smirking. As Palutena turned back to Garnet, she suddenly gasped out.
Garnet raised a brow. "What? I told you I'm not your enemy, didn't I?" She asked. Yes, that was true, and Palutena had no reason to doubt it. But that's not the reason why Palutena gasped. No, she saw something that Garnet hadn't seen. "There's a scorpion on you! Don't move!" She exclaimed. Garnet again raised a brow, before looking to her right, and sure enough, she spotted a scorpion on the Chietainess's shoulder. But it was no ordinary scorpion.
It was the dreaded Bone Scorpion; the most venomous scorpion on Olympus. Having never seen one before, Garnet played it smart and dared not move a muscle, as Palutena had instructed. However, this provided a problem for Palutena. She wasn't a big fan of scorpions. Their pincers, their stingers, what wasn't to like about these arachnids? They certainly were an unsettling creature to be sure. But how exactly it climbed onto Garnet was a mystery indeed.
But neither Palutena, nor Garnet wanted to solve that mystery. Taking the staff she carries on her back, Palutena reached for the scorpion with the walking end of her staff; shaking & shuddering as the sight of the scorpion sent shivers down her spine, but Garnet remained frozen in place nevertheless. Finally, with all her courage piled up, Palutena was able to knock the scorpion off Garnet, without triggering its reaction to sting, and it scuttled away soon after.
Palutena exhaled, panting heavily. And Garnet breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks." She says. Palutena nodded, still panting. "Are you okay?" Garnet asked. Palutena finally recomposed herself to look Garnet in the eyes. "I'm fine..." She answers. "I just can't stand scorpions... Or spiders for that matter..." Garnet just nodded in understanding. Palutena soon shook off what remained of her panic stricken stiffness completely, standing straight up.
"Oh, by the way..." Garnet suddenly says. "Where exactly am I?" She then asks. "Oh, this is the land of Olympus." Palutena answers. "And this is the La Brea Desert, where the sand is black instead of yellow." She went on. "And it's among the richest source of fossils." Garnet looked to see a huge T-Rex skull as Palutena to pack her digging tool up to move to a new area of the desert. "That explains the bones showing themselves..." She quipped, scanning the area.
"Hey, why don't we find a shadier spot to talk, hmm?" Palutena asked. "I am not opposed to the idea." Garnet answers. "However, this desert is unfamiliar to me, so perhaps you should lead." Palutena nods as she takes the lead, and Garnet follows her closely. "I take it those bone scorpions are the only menace around this desert?" Garnet asked. "Not exactly..." Answered Palutena. "Sandworms live here as well." Garnet blinked at the mention of this.
"Sand worms?" She asked. "Yes, that's right." Palutena answered. "I'm guessing that you have monsters where you're from?" She then asks. "Unfortunately yes." Answered Garnet. "In the Northern Wastelands, there's these vile beasts we refer to simply as the Swarm." She says. Palutena looked unnerved. "They sound pretty scary..." She admits. "You have no idea..." Garnet says. But before more could be said as they move on, the ground started shaking.
Garnet lost her balance a bit. "Vars... An earthquake?!" She exclaims. Palutena noticed something charging through the sand itself. Whatever it was, it soon stopped. Only to then burst forth from the sand. Palutena recognized the monster right away. "It's a sand worm!" She exclaimed. And the sand worm lunged for Palutena & Garnet, though both avoid the monster's jaws by jumping out of the way as it went back below the sand. Though it certainly won't leave.
To make matters worse: This sand worm was fully grown; a full 30m long. But Palutena noted that she & Garnet were nowhere near a nest of these beasts, so this one was just being nasty for the sake of it. "I don't suppose you have a way of defending yourself, do you?" Garnet asked. Palutena simply answered by forming ice crystals in her hands. "My husband's a warrior, I provide magic." She says, smirking. "That's perfect!" Exclaimed Garnet, smiling proudly.
The earth shook again, the sand worm reemerged from the sands, eyeing Palutena & Garnet as prey. "Aim for its underbelly!" Palutena exclaimed. Blades at the ready, Garnet nodded, and charged forward at the monster. Garnet avoided the sand worm's snapping jaws, and brought her first sword down on the worm's soft underbelly, slicing it open & causing it a good deal of pain. Palutena raced over after Garnet handed down her first of many blows.
And Palutena fired off ice at the sand worm's open wounds. The beast, already in pain from Garnet's earlier attack, was in even greater pain now thanks to Palutena giving it frost bite. And a bad case of it. As such, both had developed an attack plan to take the beast down: Garnet would slash open at the sand worm, and Palutena would hit it with ice magic. As both Mermaid & Chieftainess avoid the worm's snapping jaws, it took more & more damage.
But even though it was slowly dying, it refused to let up; being the super-persistent predator that it is. "Vars, it just won't quit..." Cursed Garnet. "A blow to the head should finish it." Palutena says. "Do you mind if I enchant your blades with ice, Garnet?" She asked. Garnet looked back to Palutena and smirked. "Be my guest." She answers, holding her swords to Palutena, who proceeds to enhance Garnet's blades with ice magic. And just in time, too.
The sand worm looked ready to attack once more. But just as it prepared to charge, Garnet charged at the beast, and Palutena backed her up with a mighty blizzard, giving great grief to the sand worm. As it struggled however, Garnet jumped up and, with a mighty roar, brought her ice-empowered blades down on the sand worm's head. The monster collapsed soon after, and Garnet landed safely onto the sand; the enchantment on her blades fading away.
Putting her blades away, Garnet glanced at the downed sand worm, and Palutena did the same thing. Both looked at the sand worm as it struggled to get back up. However, the monster breathed its last, and its eyes faded from red to black, signaling the monster was now deceased. Both breathed a sigh of relief that it was dead. "That was seriously unexpected..." Said Garnet. "Most of them are typically territorial around their nests..." Palutena says.
"Not that one though..." She looked to Garnet, as if expecting her to be cross with her. But, to her surprise, Garnet just laughed heartily. "I hadn't felt a thrill like that in a nice while!" She exclaimed. Palutena sighed in relief. "I was worried you'd be mad at me for this unexpected encounter..." She said. Suddenly, the silence was once more broken. This time by a huge flock of vultures flying about in the sky. Palutena looked up to the vultures flying around the worm.
"I think we should keep moving," Palutena says. "Before this corpse starts to stink..." Garnet nodded in agreement, and the two moved away from the sand worm's corpse, just as the vultures swooped in to feast on it. Finally, Palutena & Garnet spot an oasis not too far away and head up to it. "Oh, if I may ask..." Garnet started, as Palutena grants the chieftainess her attention. "Why're you dressed like that?" Asked Garnet, referring to Palutena's outfit.
"What else would one wear for unearthing fossils?" Palutena replies, smiling as she adjusts her pith helmet. "I see..." Garnet said. Nevertheless, the two arrive at the oasis and have a seat beneath the nice big tree that stood in the area. Here, Palutena takes her drink of water, popping open a flask she had handy that was full of it. After a small drink, she handed the flask to Garnet. "Need a drink?" She asks. "Ah, yes. Thank you." Garnet says in acceptance.
Palutena first rubs the mouth piece clean before allowing Garnet to drink from her flask. Garnet drank her share before handing it back to Palutena, who takes it away. "So, I mentioned that I've a husband," Palutena says. "But, do you?" She asks Garnet. "Yes. A most beautiful man know as Amethyst." Garnet answers, smiling lightly. "Amethyst, hmm?" Palutena ponders. "You know... Aquarius & Fontanne told me a bit about him." She proceeds to say.
"What'd they tell you?" Garnet asks. "Oh, you know..." Palutena answers. "They simply described him as a lovely long-haired man with a nice butt..." Palutena flushed a bit in embarrassment upon saying that. Garnet however, just chuckled. "Well they are not wrong." She tells Palutena. "Have they told you that he's a magic user?" Garnet then asks. Palutena nods. "Yes." She answers. "Sounds like my position if I may be honest." She then adds.
"You & him would get along nicely if I may say." Garnet says. "And you said yours is a warrior as well, yes?" She then asks. "Well, Paladin technically. Juni's certainly the muscle to my magical power," Palutena says. "But, he does have expertise with light magic." Garnet nodded. "Most intriguing." She said. But then, she sniffs the air. "Don't tell me that corpse stench is all the way here..." Garnet snarled. "I don't think that's a corpse stench." Palutena says soon afterward.
"What else could it be?" Garnet asked. Palutena looks to her right, and Garnet looked as well. And they spot a big jet black tar pit. One of many around this desert. "A tar pit..." Palutena said. Garnet blinked. "So that's what I've been smelling the whole time I was searching this area." She said. "It's actually more common than quicksand in this desert." Palutena says. "Most interesting..." Garnet says, rubbing her chin, and as Palutena stands up soon after.
Garnet raised a brow, glancing at Palutena. "Where're you going?" She asked. "Tar pits around here hide some nice fossils." Palutena answers. "I bet I can find some in this one." Palutena makes her way to the tar pit. Garnet however, stood up herself, and chased after Palutena. "Now hold on a minute!" She exclaimed, making Palutena stop and look back to Garnet. "It could be dangerous in there!" Garnet said, arms crossed shortly afterward.
"Unless you have a way of escaping it easily..." Garnet then added. To that, Palutena nodded. "I have earth magic to help in situations involving tar." She reveals. Garnet softened her attitude upon hearing this. "Well that's reassuring." She said, smirking lightly. Despite this, Palutena could tell easily that Garnet wasn't entirely crazy about the idea of sinking in the tar pit. "You don't have to follow me in the tar, ya know." Palutena said as she looks up to Garnet.
"I don't want to feel as if I'm forcing you to do something against your will." But Garnet shook her head. "I will hear none of it." She said. "We're friends, and friends stick by one another, do they not?" Garnet then asked. Palutena nodded. "So you've got nothing to worry about." Said Garnet. With that, Palutena & Garnet approach the tar pit, where Palutena checks the pit out with her staff first before she even thinks about traversing its thick & sticky surface.
The tar appeared to have a consistently thick layer atop, with an equally negotiable layer underneath. Palutena set her staff into the sand, using it as an anchor point before she & Garnet set her blades down before they both proceed into the tar pit cautiously. However, about 10 steps in, they both plunged down a bit, making them gasp out in unison. Before they realized what had happened, Palutena & Garnet were already up to their knees in the sticky goop.
Remaining motionless. Palutena could feel the tar solidify around her legs. Needless to say that slowly, Palutena & Garnet sank into the tar. But, Palutena pumped her legs gently, as if to give the impression of a half hearted escape attempt. Slowly, the tar crept up more of her body in the process, but Garnet seemed to let the tar take its time; even if Palutena's movements churned the spot where Garnet was positioned, too. Yet, Palutena never pumped too fast.
Nevertheless, Palutena's motions did drive both her & Garnet down to butt deep shortly after. "Are my actions bothering you?" Palutena asked Garnet. But Garnet shook her head. "Not at all." She answered. Palutena nodded, just as the tar started to squeeze her & Garnet in a strong, but soft embrace. "Getting this out of our hair will be an issue though..." Garnet quipped. "Certainly a drawback to sinking in tar..." Palutena says in agreement.
Nonetheless, Garnet, thanks to her great strength, managed to move up closer to Palutena, just as the latter wanted to feel the tar embrace her some more. So Palutena wiggled her hips, softening the tar's grip. Garnet chuckled at this, as Palutena wiggled more, causing the tar to swallow her & Garnet inch by inch. As their hips slipped into the hugging tar, it became apparent that both mermaid & chieftainess were starting to float. It was getting harder to sink.
Suddenly, Garnet planted her hands on Palutena's shoulders as she leaned into the mermaid's ear a bit. "I must admit," Garnet says to her. "You're being so fearless here." She then says. "Well, I have been sinking with Juni for a while now..." Palutena admits. "Do you do this with Amethyst?" She asks. "On occasion, yes." Garnet says. "But only if it's safe to do so." She adds. "My daughters & I can relate to that." Palutena says with a giggle & playful smirk.
Garnet chuckled in response. Nevertheless, Palutena just had to get... deeper. Beneath the tar, Palutena pumped her legs, using the tar's suction to draw herself further down. And with each thrust of her legs, the tar aggressively gulped more of her body down in the process, putting her at breast deep in no time. And it was not long before the tar encompassed her breasts, arcing waves of pleasure through the mermaid mother's quivering body.
And while Garnet herself reached breast deep as well, she just kept allowing the tar to take its time with her. Even so, Palutena's quaking body loosed the tar some more, allowing to swallow more of her body in the process. Palutena looked up to Garnet while she still could. "Will you... help me up... once I raise my hand...?" She asked, panting. "Absolutely." Garnet answered. And her answer came at the perfect time as well as Palutena looked away.
Her muscles tightened in ecstasy as the tar started to roll up across her face, and as it slowly rolled up Garnet's breasts; the latter of whom kept her arms above the surface. It was unlikely Garnet was going to go under however, but Palutena came to the realization that she herself was going under. And go under, she did. There was no light, no sound. Just the tar squeezing Palutena's body in reasonable amounts of pleasure. Fortunately, she was not human.
At this stage, a human's lungs would've started to burn, and would've gotten lightheaded at this point as well. Not Palutena. Her being a mermaid allowed her to stay under for hours on end. However, she chose not to stay below for long. Especially when her hands brushed upon a pair of rocks beneath the tar. Two of them. Quickly picking her findings up, Palutena's right hand suddenly shot up from the tar's depths towards Garnet, which the chieftainess noticed.
And, staying true to her word, Garnet grabbed Palutena's hand, and slowly pulled her up to the surface. "Are you all right?" Garnet asked. "Yes, I'm all right..." Palutena answered. "I'm surprised that the tar didn't prove lethal to you..." Said Garnet. "Being a mermaid has its perks." Palutena giggles, just as she points her hand at her still anchored staff, and fires a magic beam at it. The beam from Palutena is returned to her & Garnet, and the two are pulled by it.
Because Palutena used earth magic, the magic tractor beam she prepared pulled her & Garnet through the tar like it was nothing until both at the edge. And Palutena had her stones with her still in hand. Reclaiming her staff, the two returned to the oasis where both wash off in its waters. Despite how tricky it was to get the tar to come off their bodies, it ultimately did come off, and Garnet was treated to the sight of Palutena's true mermaid form as a bonus.
"Huh, so that's your true form." Said Garnet. "I was born this way, but gained the power to freely shift between human & mermaid form as I got older." Palutena reveals. "I must admit I'm impressed." Garnet says. Nevertheless, the two were cleaned off, and with some heat magic, Palutena & Garnet were dried off once out of the water. Palutena positions her rocks nicely, and from her archeology kit, takes out a strong hammer & chisel to use on them.
"Prepare to unveil your secrets, rocks." Palutena said in a psuedo gruff voice. "You are no match for me and my hammer & chisel." Garnet chuckled at this, finding this rather amusing. Palutena placed her chisel atop the left most rock, and pounded onto it with her hammer, splitting it open on her first move. Garnet blinked. "Vars, Palutena! That's pretty good!" She exclaimed. "Just need to know where to strike is all." Palutena said, giggling soon after.
"Still though, that shows you're pretty strong." Garnet says. Palutena doesn't deny that as she looks at her newly opened rock, and discovers a trilobyte fossil. But before she opens the 2nd, the silence was broken, by not one, but three voices. "Mother!" They each called out. Palutena & Garnet's heads perked up. Looking eastward, they both saw figures they quickly recognized. For Palutena, it was her 1/2 Mermaid daughter Theodosia, who was a Sage.
For Garnet, it was her son & daughter Ajax & Lea. "Theodosia?" Palutena says. "Ajax & Lea?" Garnet says soon after. Theodosia stepped up to her mother as Ajax & Lea step up to their. "We didn't see you return home soon enough," Theodosia said. "And then we heard a sand worm's roar, and well..." "Oh, we were fine the whole time." Palutena said. She looks to Ajax & Lea soon after. "And you must be Ajax & Lea then?" She proceeded to ask.
"That's us." Ajax said, smiling. "You must be Palutena, yes?" Lea asks. "That's me." Answered Palutena. "It's a pleasure to meet you both." Palutena says. "Likewise." The twins happily say. "They're certainly a nice bunch." Theodosia says. "They certainly are." Garnet says. "Oh, and your name is?" She asks Theodosia. "My name is Theodosia." The 1/2 Mermaid answers. "I'm a Sage in our family." "I see then." Garnet said, smirking lightly at this.
This is as Palutena returned to her 2nd rock and cracks it open in one go. Inside of it was an ammonite fossil, a favorite of Palutena's. "Ah, my favorite type of fossil..." She said, smiling. Her fossil hunt finished, she packed what she had found up. "Say, would you three like to stay for dinner tonight?" Palutena asked Garnet. "Your offer is a kind one." Garnet says. "But, I really should be returning home, lest Amethyst worries about me..." Palutena accepted this.
"I understand." She says. "But, please feel free the next time you're around." Garnet nods, as Theodosia opens a magic portal that would take Garnet, Ajax, and Lea back home. "It was really nice to meet you." Palutena says. "It was a pleasure indeed." Garnet says, smiling as she took Ajax & Lea through the portal after sharing their farewells. Palutena certainly had a rather eventful Mother's Day indeed, but she felt that it was all worth it in the end.
Not only did she get a great present earlier today, she also made a new friend as well. And as far as she's concerned, it probably won't be the last time the Mermaid mother, and the Chieftainess mother get together. As for when that might be, only time will tell.
