Another Tuesday, another tale.

Well, not exactly a tale this time. May Edgar Allan forgive me my impertinence.

I think he might like the homage.

Well done!

This certainly took more than the average effort for a post. That complete, to get the meter right, the rhymes - good effort. It brings the quicksand story vehicle to a new literary high. Thanks for posting.

What you do with words is amazing...

Or do I hear the tap-tap-tap of a raven's beak on a computer's keyboard?

WOW that bird can write!

I have long thought that scansion (or metre, if you prefer) is an art which is under-appreciated by many and not even understood by a frightening number of people. The fact that the English language has a rhythm that lends itself so beautifully to scansion is one of its greatest glories.

Since you ask, the poem took me just over three days to write. One line stumped me for nearly four hours (and the answer was so obvious.....)

Quoth is watching over my shoulder right now. He's perched on the back of my chair - I keep promising to get him a pallid bust of Pallas, but never have.

One thing he'd like me to make clear is that he never does any of his own typing. That would be beneath his dignity. I serve as his amanuensis.
