Mermaids in Palus (Chapter 5: Under the Stars)

The 5th & final chapter of Mermaids in Palus.
All that remains is the epilogue.

The sun was just halfway down, skimming the horizon. Aquarius & Fontanne stood over the edge of a sand dune just outside of camp, watching the sun as it slowly disappears from sight. They were soon visited by Lea, who walked up right behind them both. "A nice sight, isn't it?" She asks. Aquarius & Fontanne nodded. "It is." Fontanne said. "I bet the night here is just as lovely..." Aquarius sighed. Lea smiled. "Just you wait." She then said.
The three soon turn and return to the camesite, where a feast was waiting. Garnet stood over it. "The hunting was good tonight." She said. "Please, do enjoy what's been prepared." This is something Aquarius & Fontanne did not hesitate to do. Grabbing their share, they then found a place to sit down and began eating, with Ajax & Lea joining them immediately after. "It must be a hard lifestyle if hunting is how you attain food." Fontanne says as she chows down.
"Food is a rare commodity around here it's true." Lea says. "But, it's a better life than starving, I'll say that much." "Anything's better than starving." Said Aquarius. "You got that right." Ajax chuckled. As they ate, the sun had finally set, disappearing behind a mountain of sand as a full moon took its place in the sky. By the time they emptied their plates, Lea looked to the night sky, spotting stars beginning to appear by the hundreds. Nay, thousands.
"Hey, Aquarius?" Lea says. "What is it, Lea?" Asked Aqaruius. Lea smiled and pointed behind the Starseer. "Look." She then simply said. As her dish was taken away, along with everyone else's, Aquarius's attention turned from the party to the sky above. As soon as she stopped turning, she almost fell over with amazement of the sight before her very eyes. She stood up, her eyes began to shimmer. Lea smiled. "What do you think?" She proceeded to ask.
Aquarius gasped lightly. "It's... So beautiful..." She said, her whole being awash with a sense of awe. "Isn't it though?" Lea asked. "It's always like this around here at night." She then says, smiling. Fontanne looked up at the sky herself. "Night time at deserts certainly have a bountiful magic to them." She said, smiling. "Do the deserts where you're from get this lovely?" Lea asks. "Most definitely." Aquarius answers. "But, some get cold, too..." Fontanne says.
"The Crystal Desert is actually so cold, that there's more snow than sand." She adds. "Interesting..." Says Ajax. The four soon head into their respective tents. Aquarius & Fontanne however, are not about to pass up being able to sink beneath this lovely desert night sky, and so started changing back into their bikinis once more. However, after they had changed, their departure of their tent did not go unnoticed. Namely by Ajax & Lea, who catch them quick.
"Where are you going?" Asked Lea. "Back to the quicksand pits." Fontanne giggles. "At this time?" Ajax asked, confused. "Is that a problem?" Aquarius asks. "Well, no." Ajax answered. "Just seems surprising you'd want to sink at night." Said Lea. "We've done it before." Fontanne reveals. "Huh, so you have..." Ajax mused. "Is it all right if we join you two?" He then asks. "We'd be glad to have you with us." Answered Aquarius with a warm smile.
Ajax & Lea smile back at the 1/2 Mermaids, and the four of them proceeded onto the quicksand pits. But just before going any further, a torch was set up to act as a marker for if it got too dark to see. Though Aquarius & Fontanne use their light magic to help out as well. Nevertheless, it wasn't long before they came upon the pits once more. This time Aquarius & Fontanne picked a patch of quicksand that was nice & bubbly, like a jacuzzi so to speak.
Without hesitation, Aquarius & Fontanne both jump in, plunging to their thighs instantly. Ajax & Lea stepped in and walked up to the 1/2 Mermaid sisters before they got stuck at their thighs, too. "You picked a nice one." Lea said. "We've certainly got the knack for it." Aquarius giggles. Almost immediately, the 4 start to sink slowly down into the quicksand's depths. Aquarius & Fontanne were also quick to note that the quicksand was certainly deep indeed.
As the quartet sinks, the bubbles kept on rising & popping, as if churning the clay that made up the quicksand's structure. Aquarius & Fontanne welcomed the bubbles without hesitation, even as they splattered across their legs. "This actually feels warm..." Fontanne notes. "It's nice for this time though." Lea says. "Got that right." Aquarius giggled, blushing more as the bubbles continue to come & go, splattering her, Ajax, Fontanne, and Lea every which way.
"The bubbles actually feel nice." Ajax says. "See why we love it when quicksand bubbles~?" Fontanne asked with giggles. "We certainly do." Lea answered, giggling herself. But then, Fontanne dipped her hands into the clay, and rubbed it onto Lea's breasts, making her blush deep. "H-Hey!" She exclaimed. But, her tune changed shortly after once she felt that Fontanne was not rubbing her in an excessively sensual way, and started to relax herself.
"That feels good, doesn't it?" Fontanne asked, smiling. "Very..." Lea moaned out. As her brother Ajax simply observed, Aquarius joined her sister Fontanne in treating Lea to a clay rub as the sinking continued on, all as the party approached butt deep at this point, too. Nonetheless, Lea just relaxed as Fontanne & Aquarius kept on rubbing clay across Lea's body, causing her to purr lightly all the same. Fontanne & Aquarius giggled at Lea's reactions, too.
Before long, the 1/2 Mermaid sisters have Lea's body slathered from the neck down in the clay that was still swallowing them. They soon sandwiched Ajax's body almost immediately after. "You're next, handsome~." Aquarius said, pinning herself behind him, giving Fontanne the chance to be up front with him. Ajax chuckled nervously, but this was quick to fade once Aquarius rubbed his shoulders as he had done with her earlier in the day, which he welcomed.
The four continued to sink deeper into the quicksand, and the bubbles got bigger as well, which meant that the splattering they would induce was even greater than before. Fontanne meanwhile, rubbed Ajax's arms, getting a good feel of his muscular physique. She blushed deeply as she felt those muscles he had, enjoying how toned they felt. They of course remain where they are, even as the quartet sank down to their chests at long last.
Fontanne & Aquarius took turns giving one kiss after another to Ajax as well. He certainly didn't seem to mind it one bit, and his twin sister just smirked at the sight. "You sure seem to be popular with these two." Lea teased. Ajax looked flustered. "Uh, well..." Ajax stammered, before losing himself to some stuttering. He did however, not deny this one minute. Aquarius giggled and leaned in his ear. "She's right, ya know~." She whispered to him, smiling.
After sometime at chest deep, all 4 of the sinkers sank down to their chins. Aquarius tilted her head back immediately, wanting to get a full glance at the starry night sky as she slowly sinks below the quicksand. Fontanne never did this herself, instead allowing the quicksand to just sink her to her nose, with Ajax & Lea following her lead. But, it really didn't matter in the end as the quicksand swallowed all 4 of them at once anyway, leaving only bubbling indents.
The quicksand was silent, with only bubbles across its surface, before Aquarius, Fontanne, Ajax, and Lea emerged from its depths safely, and with some help via swimming in the churned quagmire, they managed to climb out safely. "That was so good..." Fontanne sighed, delighted. "So very good..." Aquarius added. Once again, with water magic, Aquarius washed herself, her sister, and the twins off, coming nice & clean easily before drying off.
"Well, let's head on back to the came site." Ajax suggested. "Yeah, Fontanne & I plan to head home tomorrow morning." Said Aquarius. "Really? It feels as if you just got here though." Lea says. "We did indeed, but..." Fontanne started, but Ajax shook his head. "Nah, it's okay, we understand." He said, smiling. Nonetheless, the four return to camp, and Aquarius & Fontanne enter their tents, and Ajax & Lea enter theirs, ready to turn in for a good sleep.
As Aquarius & Fontanne drift off to sleep, they reflect on how their journey went. Despite the setbacks, they nonetheless felt that in the end, it was very much all worth it, for they made it to their destination safely, just as they had promised they would before leaving home. "Think we'll ever be back here often...?" Fontanne asks. "I know we will..." Said Aquarius, smiling. Fontanne smiled back, before the 1/2 Mermaid sisters finally enter a deep slumber.
Their journey across Palus having started under a bright warm sun, and has come to an end under the stars...
