CYOA: A Lake Without a Name - Part 02

Postby Aiko » Sat Jul 13, 2013 5:51 am

You swim directly and as fast as you can towards the woman's voice. She keeps calling for help. You hurry forward and the water becomes shallower, until you eventually stop swimming and get up to run the rest of the way. Water splashes left and right as you sprint towards the reeds. The ground is soft and muddy underneath the surface. You keep pushing forward through the reeds. They slow you down as does the shin-deep muck that you are now wading through. The smell of peat enters your nose, but you don't mind. Forcing your way through the foliage is much harder and more exhausting than you had expected. Still you keep going, until you finally clear the reeds - out of breath.

You stand in knee-deep morass and before you there is a girl in her mid-twenties caught in a bog. It looks like some mixture of peat and sand which has her trapped hip-deep and bobs up and down with her struggles. Her long blonde hair is neatly tied up in a pony tail. The dark hairline tells you that is not her natural color. The girl's tanned skin contrasts her white tank top, which is being stained by the mud.

She does not seem to have noticed you yet, as she is looking the other way - apparently not expecting rescue to come from the direction of the lake. A distance of at about fifteen feet separates you from her, and you have no idea how close you can get without sinking deeper yourself. The surface looks pretty much the same to you all around. You should probably reply so she knows help is here...

That was a pretty clear vote for not doing anything much. The next part is available here:
