in my world, the horse gets out but she can't hold on and is left to sink... gets in a bit deeper but not too much... i see the horse and go investigate and come upon her just in time to watch a bit of struggling before the rescue...

Nice renders! Well done.

At first it looks like the horse might get out, but it soon tires down und sinks deeper. Lady Godiva tries to help him escape for a while, but it becomes obvious that she is only getting herself deeper and that her horse will not move on no matter what she does. So she climbs back onto his back and from there barely makes it to safe ground, sacrificing the stallion in the process.

Whoa Aiko! So quick to sacrifice the trusty steed! How about the horse makes it clear of the quicksand after a few good slaps to it's haunches. Lady Godiva then commands her well trained mount to lean against and break down one of those 'flimsy' trees I see close by. Lady Godiva crawls free after a bit of struggling!

Horse escapes, but she looses her grip on its tail and is seemingly doomed. But then the horse turns around and lowers its head so that she can grab its reigns, and the horse pulls her out!

Alas AIko, the devil is in the details!
Note that Lady Godiva elected to ride with nothing more than a silk sheet spread upon her horse's back?
With no stirrups or saddle to apply leverage upon,I do believe she would be very hard pressed to pull herself out by climbing onto an undoubtedly sweaty horse's back to attain her own freedom from the mire.

I admit it would not be easy to get back onto the horse. It would take some effort and time, during which the horse would become mired deeper. By the time Lady Godiva finally manages to climb back up onto the stallion's back, that very same back would be about to disappear from view and into the bog. That's why she gets away just barely and there's no way she can rescue the horse.

Not that it matters, seeing how most people here seem to favor the horse's escape over the Lady's.
