Okay... here's experiment #2 with GIMP. It turned out to be a real exercise in frustration as I screwed it up the first time, and it took ages to straighten it out. But... five hours later... here it is. I have a long way to go before I start cranking them out again, but one step at a time.

I don't think you get enough credit for how well you match your subjects with their backgrounds. Most of the time it looks like the entire image could've been drawn by the same person. Well done.

Thanks, Sekani! I find that's often the hardest part is finding the right background for the subject. I try to save a wide variety of them for all occasions.
