Failed crossing

The broad bank of loose clay silt is softer and grippier than she'd imagined when she set out to skinny dip in the river. Her arms become stuck when she tries to pull a leg free, and she feels a shift as the mud around her comes alive with bubbling and gurgling. Her thighs steadily sinking, a sensation of helpless slow freefall takes hold of her whole body, and she looks nervously at the bank, hoping her friends arrive soon...
