What is Second Life?

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but what is Second Life? I'm thinking of trying to create some of my own pics, etc.

You posted this in a place called "Manipulations". This is a ridiculous choice of place to post the question, because the next section of the forum is explicitly named "Second Life" ;) viewforum.php?f=26
