I just went through several weeks of emails from the board and cannot find one from you.

Did you send it via a different user name?

I only have one user name... but I think I know what happened. I checked the 'send copy' to own email' box, which must have caused it to send ONLY to my email address. I'll try again and leave that box unchecked.

Hmmm. That function is simply a copy of the original email.

I have no knowledge of the facts of this case but depending on the email provider and the content of a message, a message can sometimes get diverted to a spam folder. I have encountered at least one instance in which a message sent by one of my own systems, and to myself, ended up in my spam folder.
