does anyone know how to make a GIF?

i've been talking to Kathyrne, the artist who did my avatar, about the possibility of turning her work into a GIF... i've got 7 images starting with mid-thigh and ending at one step deeper than my avatar... anyone ever create a GIF?

Ok, so you're really talking about a
moving GIF. Computer neanderthals like myself fuzzily remember a time when GIF's were all we had (all 256 colors!).
For moving GIF's, I use an outdated but resourceful version of Paint Shop Pro - actually the animation 'little brother' program called Animation Shop. But I'm not sure it's ideal. I only mention that because I could easily make an avatar for you if you email me the images (gimme gimme).
Otherwise, I would Google 'Moving GIF Makers' or 'Moving GIF Software' and see what pops up for little or no cost. There are a lot of freeware and shareware offerings when it comes to graphics utilities.

Its not something I have done but looking around the web pretty strongly suggests that most people use Photoshop for this. That is not cheap, of course.

You could just use the new format, "webm".
You don't need a special program to create them and they are 100 times better than GIFs.

Just Googling "gif animation" turns up sites such as:

it's not from a video... it's from a gallery of poser images by my friend Kathyrne... i'm interested in finding out how to make animated GIFs and asked the QS Fans community for advice... got several suggestions and an offer by Dave (aka dlodoski, who already knows what he's doing!) to turn the images into an animated GIF avatar... for more, check out the thread in the Technical folder
