file transfer question

Has anyone used any of the file transfer services that follow? I am particularly interested in opinions regarding legitimacy and ease of use. The servicves I am interested in learning about are known as transferbigfiles, yousendit, sendspace, onehub, and filesdirect, all ending in .com

Also have you considered megaupload and rapidshare? I think you can set codes that are needed to open the file once downloaded.
Then there is clips 4 sale which is obviously reputable sicne a lot of people use it but I think they take like 40% commission or something.

Thanks for the feedback. I do plan to use clips4sale but only for shorter material, not the full length scenes, as the 40 percent commission is MUCH too high for that. I think a fee like that is reasonable when the average price per sale is very low, as it is with typical 3 minute clips. But for full length scenes its outrageous. Eight to ten percent, even, seems rather high unless it also covers collection of payments. After all, all that is really needed is a way to transmit a large file. Also, clips4sale's TOS does some things with copyright that are unacceptable (as I interpret them) for full length material.

I will look at the other two but the idea of allowing downloads and then buying activation codes seems to me to invite attempts to pirate the codes.

I think megaupload and rapidshare are totally free for the uploader and downloader up to a certain point. I've never used them though but looking at megaupload's site it says it allows 200 GB transfer for free, and for only $9.95 a month unlimited "Everything." I think the person downloading though can only download a certain amount in like a 3 hour period if they have free memebership. I'm not totally sure about codes to open files but I know I've seen people post files that have a code you have to enter in order to unzip the file. Yes, piracy is an issue but I would think sharing codes problems would be really no different than if someone just ripped a scene off a DVD and then sent it to people or posted it somewhere. I would think the community would be pretty honest in not revealing the codes and if you caught on that there was piracy going on you could just change the code. That is, if you can change codes...
Maybe someone who uses megaupload or rapidshare could tell more about how it works.

I wouldn't recommend any of the free transfer sites for paid content. They don't provide any level of security beyond you adding a password to the ZIP file you upload, which can easily be worked around. Maybe something like wambank.com(?) would be more appropriate.

Well, I use Megaupload to share some of my larger pieces and content with other people, but I don't exactly charge to create my content either. I do believe that the site does have a couple of options for files you want to be protected from people, but you have to be a paid member ranging from $10 a month to $200 lifetime. So that part may be a hit or a miss.

The only other way that something like Megaupload could work to protect your content and those that would purchasers would be to double password lock the link and files to make it harder to get into without having access. Yet that would also become problematic for some loyal customers. Your other option would be to purchase some webspace and a lot of bandwidth along with a protection system that would only allow for a particular download of a file based on a crypt key that expires after so much time has passed and after a certain amount of download attempts have been hit.
