Advancing from probationary status?

Please excuse me if this has been answered elsewhere, I've looked around but couldn't seem to find an answer. How can I become a registered user instead of probation? Can only the board admin change it? Do I need to do anything to help the process? Thanks in advance, and please excuse the new guy for asking questions.
