Automatic Logout

Postby bogbud » Tue May 23, 2023 8:45 am

Is it just me or some problem with the board?

When writing a post i get an automatic logout after just a minute or so.
This also means i have to write the text all over and over.
Current workaround is to hit the preview again and again.

Does this ring any bells?
I'm already chindeep in this mudbog and every desperate attempt to move my stuck legs only drives me deeper in. The thick mud slowly swamps my waders and my arms have nothing to hold onto.
I'm feeling home.

I am not a moderator, except in the Studio 588 sub forum, to what I can do should be about the same as what anyone can do, so far as I am aware. I am not able to reproduce the symptom you described. I tried composing a post by entering some brief text every ten seconds, then waited 100 seconds before another entry. I did not "submit" what I entered as it was just gibberish. Perhaps you might provide additional details. Also, I have seen some strange things sometimes that go away with a re-boot, so I'd try that.

It's like "Post reply" and then i'm writing this text.
When it takes longer than around a minute before i hit either Preview or Submit i become logged out and see that screen "You have to be logged in to post" or smth like that. When logging back in, the text is gone and i have to start all over.
It's really annoying!

This is a post reply. It is now 2:29. I will let this sit until 2:32.

It is now 2:32. I was not logged out.

While I do not know anything about the forum software, it would be normal for an uncompleted post to be timed out, although not with such a short period involved. ne thing I would check is your system clock - make sure it is set correctly. I have no idea if that could be involved but it has to do with time. Other than that, hopefully the moderator will respond.

Well, thank you none the less.
Obviously it's on my end. Will check some settings and hope it works

You can test the hypothesis it is at your end, if you have a different computer, or that it is something with your service provider by going to a different location.

Here is something else to try. I have an occasional issue whereby every once in a while, attempting to log in to one of my cloud accounts fails. Repeated attempts have no effect. However, I have found that re-powering (re-booting) my satellite modem solves the problem every time. I have no idea why but it works. So try rebooting your modem.

I've experienced something similar before, but only when writing VERY long posts. Nowadays, unless it's just a sort couple of sentences, I type up whatever I want to post in Word or Notes and just copy and paste it onto the site.
