Quicksand Fans

Hey,

I have been getting an occasional error message when I try to log on to the forum. It tells me I have exceeded the maximum number of login attempts, and requires me to type in one of those "capcha" things. No big deal, but I seldom need more than one login attempt, never more than two.

This has come up recently, involving a couple of the board hosts.

Our best guess is that someone (either underage or retarded) is trying to log in using other folk's user names.

If it becomes chronic, we'll log the pertinent (IP) information and forward it to the FBI.

This recently happened to me. And it was my first log-in attempt of the day.

I did get in after typing the scrambled letters in right but it sure was weird.

Hopefully everyone here has an impossible to guess password for themselves! I'd hate to think that one of us would have their account hacked by these kiddies!

The best password is one that's a mixture of lower case, upper case, numbers and symbols. And while some people might look at a password like this...

...and wonder how in the world they could remember it, the way to do that is simple. It's just a basic phrase...

And, no kiddies, that's not my password! I'm not that stupid!

GJeebas, it took 5 times to get that garbley confirmation code right and get on here!
Whoever is doing this really should get a life, or better yet, make their own account if they want on so badly.

There is a possibility that it's an issue with the board.

Let's wait for Kookus to weigh in on it.

I had this same issue happen to me about a week ago. At first I thought I'd typed in my information incorrectly then realized that I did everything right and couldn't understand what happened. Managed to get on the third time around and things have been fine ever since.

I also had the same thing happen about a week ago or so.
