AVCHD video editor

Any advice on editing software for AVCHD videos (Sony compact camera)? It would be good to get freeware and software that resizes frames (like VirtualDub).

Thanks :P

I do a lot of video editing but I use Adobe Premiere, which is far from freeware, so, while I would like to help, I cannot.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 13 different producers. Info may be found at:

I just trained somebody on Vegas Pro. But before we were able to get together, we got started with Vegas Movie Studio via remote desktop.

I was really impressed with the features available in Movie Studio (which is FAR less expensive than Vegas). I has some features dumbed down a bit (it creates a bunch of tracks whenever you start a project). The only think it couldn't do that was significant was paste cut content from one instance of the program to another.

It's not free, but then, neither are cameras. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Vegas_Movie_Studio
