On 1 & 2, man, I remember having to come up with explanations for my dad many, many moons ago.

"Yeah... I was... uh... hiking. That's the ticket."

I can only imagine what kind of mental problems he thought plagued his only son after falling in the same puddle every couple of weeks. Eventually he just stopped asking, so long as I cleaned up well.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
