The second link has a brief video.
It does look like the "Coasties" got into their

Enjoy.

Actually, I have some experience in this area. There is a difference between something being theoretically repairable and ECONOMICALLY repairable. In other words, it is often cheaper to buy a brand new replacement that to repair the original. Confining ourselves to cars - new cars are mostly built by fully automated assembly lines these day - and once you have them installed, robots can work any hours you ask them to, don't take holidays, and don't much care about minimum wage. And since new cars are made in bulk, you can put your factory anywhere on the planet where costs (including taxes) are low...

Repairs, however, are all individual. Each is different, requires skilled (and expensive) labour, and rarely gets much benefit from economies of scale.

I know this beach-not as well as I might like!!-as it is patrolled by coastguards to keep people out of the quicksands- spoilsports!! But there are signs warning of the mud & advising vehicles NOT to go down the beach & every year some people ignore them & get stuck either in vehicles or in person
To enjoy the quicksand go at night & on a falling tide leaving your car OFF the beach

Interesting but this dude must be retarded to drive his car on the beach. Toyota Celicas are sort of ugly POS "sports cars" most people might not care whether or not it was recovered. Had this of been something like a mustang/camaro/corvette/rx8/porsche/bmw or whatever it would be more worth recovering.
