Got a chance to see it, seems pretty expected of the Toymaker to make ridiculous traps like that, but hey, quicksand in mainstream media!

Holy fucking commercials tho.
If you watch it on the cbs site.
If you scroll anywhere in the video you have to sit thru like 6-7 commercials.
My advice to anyone who wants to watch it that way, scroll across the bar without clicking until you find the scene, a little more than halfway thru, then click when you know you're where you want to be.
I watched the same Viagra, car insurance and credit card commercial like 4 times.
It took a half hour to see this 20 second scene.

Haha, some people's reactions on the show's facebook page are like "Quicksand? Really?"

Re: SuperGirl in Quicksand!
I thought it was GREAT....as the show moves at a pretty fast pace...I knew it wasn't going to be longer than they gave us....and she DID actually progress in the sink from seeing thigh, to seeing only skirt, to seeing just waist....managed to turbo charge the speed of the scene of what was reminiscent of a 60's batman episode we're all familiar with. Also, it almost felt like they consulted a certain Jim Weathers as to how to set up the scene and write the dialogue for it. Totally made my night....and NEVER expected it...which really helped make it for me....I think seeing it after you've been told may take some of the oomph out of it.

Kinda makes me sad to read that.
Quicksand was once one of the big scares. You could count on it in many movies were some terror was desired.
Then, as you noted, by the 1970s it had moved to comedies and cheap, made-for-TV movie plots and soaps. In essence, QS had become a joke.

That subplot romance between Kara and son-of-toyman (aka. 'nice guy' douche-bag) is pretty hard to watch!
The classic 'don't struggle, you'll only sink deeper' was there, which was nice.
Not sure if thermite-laced sand is a new thing, or not.
