Oh wow! I didn’t know about that scene. I know that it’s just CGI, but I still think that it’s pretty well made and the actress is also pretty. I wish we could get scenes like this more often. Thanks for posting it. :)

That as nicely done. The sticky, clinging nature of the "sim-sand" added an extra level of entertainment to me.

I know its a long shot - but is anyone aware an easy to use program to do CGI like this?

God it would be so fun to make a scene similar to this, here's a behind the scenes video, I have it timestamped to the QS part.

Also if anyone out there wants to make something similar to this, contact me and I'll do the CGI.

Technically it shouldn’t be too difficult. The Doctor Who episode “Night Terrors” had a scene where a guy sinks into his carpet, and while the effects were not impressive, and not near as good as the DDOH effects, they could be replicated on After Effects. In the behind the scenes, they reveal how they made a large green screen set up, and a vat of green goo with a lowering platform. They filmed the guy as he steps in and sinks under, and then they presumably just had the Doctor Who VFX team attach it to the shots of the rippling carpet.

Honestly, I think the last 2 second shot of the guy’s face (and only his face, as his entire body has been swallowed), sinking under the carpet is probably the easiest to replicate out of all the shots.
