Neat, the combination of side scrolling + mud pits + upward struggling mechanics kinda reminds me of MrBlackGoo's Crackle Cradle mod demo (or at least, a simplified version of it.)

I’ve just passed the bowling alley area and the only quicksand/mud so far is right near the beginning of the game.

Here's my take on some BotW clips involving a selection of mods. Not all of the areas listed below have been covered for the meantime.

Game Title: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Platform: Wii U, Switch
Area Number/Name: Bottomless Swamp, Dragon Bone Mire, Great Plateau, Great Hyrule Forest, Mido Swamp, Military Training Camp, Rauru Settlement Ruins, Tobio's Hollow
Notes:. The videos here feature Pyra, Zelda, and Linkle slogging through some of these bogs.

And a little extra...

Game Title: Gotta Protectors
Platform: 3DS
Area Number/Name: Various
Notes: Mud pits only serve to slow down both players and foes alike, and can be added in the game's level editor.

I hope that you can also have Zelda in mud while in her Original outfit, Hylian outfit, Skyward sword, and Ocarina of Time outfits.

Here's an early Christmas treat, a set of Ys clips:

Game Title: Ys Origin
Platform: PC, PS Vita, PS4, Xbox One
Area Number/Name: The Silent Sands
Notes: Submersion in quicksand works like going underwater in this game, but air gets depleted quicker, and can be escaped from by running or jumping.

Game Title: Ys: Memories of Celceta
Platform: PC, PS Vita
Area Number/Name: Ashen Forest
Notes: Sinking, which is non-lethal, can occur by staying in one place in the swamplands, slowing the player down as a result.

Game Title: Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA
Platform: PC, PS Vita, PS4, Switch
Area Number/Name: Schlamm Jungle, Lodinia Marshland
Notes: The swamps of Schlamm Jungle are waist-deep, and they serve to make high ledges inaccessible, while Lodinia Marshland has marshes deep enough to serve as underwater sections. Here is footage featuring the ladies in their Tropical Swimwear and Deserted Pirate DLC outfits, thanks to a recently-discovered patch.

Celceta was a nice one to watch. Very gentle sink, a bit of a shame there's no full submergence (although in some spots it comes very close).

Area Number/Name: Shrine of the Frost Giants
Notes: While not necessarily something to sink into, snow inhibits movement speed if the Snow Shoes aren't equipped. Also, it is possible to go under the snow, assuming that it is deep enough, by landing from a high elevation.

Game Title: Lufia: The Ruins of Lore
Platform: GBA
Area Number/Name: Jungle Spire
Notes: In the muddy areas, there are spots that will take you to the underground caves.

As an added bonus, here's a clip from Spy Fiction, featuring extended footage of Sheila slogging through the marsh, where she goes under in the end.
