Still, I'll also keep searching for even better scans of these strips... just because. :D

I'm pretty sure I have originals of this around somewhere.

It would be nice to do away with the bleed through.

Note to would be scanners out there - line the bottom of the scanner cover with black construction paper. It virtually ends bleed-through problems.

Now I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip. :D

That last one with Tarzan with the girl running into quicksand! I remember when It came out in the Sunday Papers long ago. I kept it for as long as I could. I couldn't wait for the next issue when the lady got rescued. I have been searching for that comic strip for a long time, You found it at last!!

Tarzan to Jill Hardy: Girl be still. Not sink!!"
From "Valley Of Mystery" : Don't struggle and do not thrash around; that just makes things worse!

You are most welcome! :D These are becoming rare gems.

Speaking of comics, I've been going insane trying to fine a copy of a Little Orphan Annie newspaper strip series from 1985 which had a great quicksand scene in it. The storyline had Annie - who's an older teen type now, or college age, being pursued by a masked terrorist named Shaddo. In it, she and her dog Sandy are fleeing across a swamp when the dog plunges his forelegs into quicksand. Annie gets him out okay, but then she finds herself sinking rapidly. Over the course of a few days of newspaper strips she keeps sinking lower and lower until she goes all the way under, complete with bubbles on the sand's surface. Sandy, of course, standing on a log or something plunges his head under the quicksand and hauls her out.

As far as I know, it has never been reprinted or anything, but I keep holding out hope.

And the rest of it...

In case anyone is wondering, there are several pages I omitted which show the dog running for help and encountering a pack of other dogs, some ninjas in a bloody battle, and a horse stampede before we get back to the quicksand. The dog does retrun to him, but after he rescues himself.

Been a while.... but I found this scene from Lash LaRue comics.

Tossed in a jungle one for kicks, in case one hadn't seen it before.
