OUTRAGEOUS plagiarism! This character is a straight copy of SEVERAL similar characters from rival comic publisher Marvel's strip "X-Men"; Tarbaby, Tarpit, and even "Gorgeous George" (one of Mister Sinister's "Nasty Boyz") all have similar powers. Someone should complain (or maybe Marvel should send Mystique round to have a discreet word....)
"Aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh! Quicksand! I'm sinking! I'll go straight to the bottom of.......GLURP!"
(a month later)
"Ugh! Yukkkh! Ptui! I'm out of it! I'm free! Not even quicksand can defeat the power of.....the Eye of Zoltec!"

Re: PVR ALERT!!!! The Flash!
Well, the "tarpit" metahuman scenes weren't quite what I had hoped. His initial immersive drop into a vat of hot tar by other bad guys at the beginning was a bit fast, although his foot did take slightly longer to disappear, just when the wave from the dark matter explosion hit, giving him his "abilities". His entrance was interesting, with him rising up from a pool of tar. His tar was extremely hot, burning his male victim, one of the people who had dropped him in, but you only saw the victim's viewpoint of the metahuman's hot tarry hand closing in. He could throw tarballs that melted through metal, and could turn into a tar monster, with red-hot cracks, like lava with a cracked cooler crust.

I guess there nothing scary about a super-villain who traps victims in black goo until they slowly die of thirst or starvation....Kinda slow action...

It does get kind of scary once the dire wolves and smilodons show up, but then they inevitably just get stuck too.

It is scary when that black goo is at the temperature of a blowtorch, and can melt a hole in metal!

That's my point. They had to give the tar unrealistic properties to make it superhero-interesting. The stuck thing just wasn't enough.
