Land of the Giants

Postby undergrain1 » Sun Nov 15, 2009 8:57 am

There are two quicksand scenes and a "quicksand-like" scene in this series.

In one episode, an escaping convict finds the Spindrift (the sub-orbital craft the Earth people came in), runs with it and falls into quicksand. Now... this is the land of the Giants, so their quicksand pits make our deepest ones look knee deep! Anyhow, the Spindrift uses its engines to move along the surface to solid ground, then fires its engines again to provide an anchor while the convict pulls himself out on a line attached to the ship. In gratitude, the convict puts the Spindrift back where he found it.

In another episode, a scientist has built a robot. Chipper, the dog of Earth boy Barry Lockridge, barks at it as a menace, but the dog blunders into quicksand and disappears. The robot, however, reaches into the Earthman-sized patch, which would be no threat to the planet's natives, fetches Chipper out. Chipper is grateful at the rescue, barking spiritedly and wagging his tail, then the robot puts Chipper down and he and Barry go back to their camp.

The third scene, which is quicksand-like, Fitzhugh (the "Dr. Smith" of the show, but a lot more useful) is captured and put into a can with wax in it. He's chest deep and can't get out of it. Steve manages to help him get out with some help from outside the can.
