I see no signs of Spanish version here
That's a great movie! Always loved it! BTW, I kept it in mind while creating my character Alya the Unlucky

There’s so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Ah, yes. That's a classic! Makes me which I could speak French.
There's also this remake with Martin Short (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102729/), but the original is soooo much better.
EDIT: And yes, they remade the quicksand scene too: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2066124288/tt0102729

Surely it's French
The movie is French. The actors are French. With the names Pierre Richard and Gérard Depardieu who else could they be? Of course, the movie was dubbed in dozens languages but that YouTube clip and the interview were in French, too, as well as the written comment.
And what's wrong with Wikipedia? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pure_Luck It says that the original movie was French.
Actually, there were American remakes of virtually all the best French comedy movies of 70s-80s, and all those remakes (maybe except one) were absolutely shitty (Sorry for offtopic)

Great descent. I've never seen this clip before...and I wonder how they do that! Real quicksand doesn't work like that and especially dry sand wouldn't, but when I was young, that gentle, steady descent was the stuff of my quicksand dreams.
If you haven't studied either Spanish or French, perhaps the sound of it alone won't I.D. it for you. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I admit that I clicked on it because I had six years of Spanish classes, though...and no...I couldn't hazard a guess as to what these guys are saying.
The guy in the quicksand didn't look exactly panic-stricken about it, though.

Of course he's not. He was always in trouble, he got used to it. If you haven't seen the movie I'd highly recommend to see it.
I never studied French but I remember (very approximately) what they say (I've seen it dubbed in Russian, maybe 20 years ago or so). I a few words: Campana (Gérard Depardieu) goes on François Perrin (Pierre Richard), in the process they stop and François Perrin starts slowly sinking. Campana continues lecturing him, finally he notices that his companion goes down and says "Stop clown!" - "I'm not clowning, it's the ground slipping under my feet" - "how could it be?" - "I think it's quicksand" - "But there are no quicksands shown on the map of this place" - "I believe they ought to show them!" Campana looks at François Perrin (who is continuously sinking) for some time, then suddenly realizes what's happening, grabs a big branch and pulls him out.

Re: La Chèvre dry quicksand male scene(the end is cut off)
If someone is interested, I learned Spanish at school (don't remember much - it was 35 years ago) and took private English lessons, then learned English at the University. But I'm able to easily distinguish between English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Polish, Bulgarian, Hungarian - written or spoken. That doesn't mean I can understand what they speak aboutTAP_bagan wrote:i never took spanish or french .
In fact, it is not about languages. It is about movies. French and Spanish movies are very different. And I know dozens of American remakes of French movies, but I can't remember any remake of a Spanish movie. I'm not a great specialist in it, though.
