Hmmm. Probably could have pulled the title from the top of my head back in the day.

I remember it from the time though. It was a made for TV disaster movie about earthquakes or Godzilla undergoing climate change surgery or something.

You are correct. The movie of 2004 is a re-make of a Mickey Rooney flick of the early 50s, and of the same title. The "quicksand" is one of inescapable entanglement but has nothing whatsoever to do with any kind of mud.
