Re: The real Grimpen Mire
Wow! It meets every requirement for the Grimpen Mire- the ancient stone huts, the nearby prison, the "lost" track across the mire, the tin mines- all of it!
Thanks!

lots of detailed descriptions of sinking spots, lots of advice not to become an unsuspecting victim and funny to read.
If i would live anywhere in the UK i would probe that area at once.
I also like that cartoon on the bottom of the page. The tentacle is a nice touch.
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

Re: The real Grimpen Mire
I have read the entire Sherlock Holmes collection by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Naturally, Hound of the Baskervilles is my favorite. I have gone on line an read at length about the real Grimpen Mire (actually named Dartmoor as related above). This is one I missed. Thanks for filling in some blanks. Hard to believe anyone really sinks under, but it is a good legend.
