Quicksand Fans

If this has been posted before, please forgive the duplication.

A female performance artist from Guatemala had herself buried up to her neck in mud, then let folks walk around her in the mud:

Not sinking, but still tangential to our interest.

If you do an image search on her work, you'll see she also buried herself in sand for a performance.

Nice find! While doing the image search I found this page with an embedded video clip of a short documentary of her work. It starts off with a few seconds of her escaping a sand burial then goes straight into a few seconds of her laying on her front with her arms buried straight down in mud. Please note it takes about 10-12 seconds for the video to actually start playing after you hit the play button. At least it did for me!

There's quite a lot of videos of her on Vimeo, and she's done a lot of interesting work. I'm going to keep looking, will update if I find any more!

This may also be of interest here. A rather long video where she appears to be buried up to her neck in a very large pile of concrete/brick rubble and around 10 people are slowly rescuing her by removing one item at a time via a human chain! https://vimeo.com/179299032
