Willie and the Yank (M)

Postby JungleJim » Wed Feb 14, 2024 3:00 pm

I knew I saw this as a kid on Walt Disney. Finally found the clip:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi6v6HSLRZ4

It has a young Kurt Russell and Nick Adams. Scene starts around 14:00.
"Sometimes it takes as long as 3, 4 hours, if you don't struggle, to go all the way under."

Holy cats! I haven't seen this since it's original airing in 1967 but it's amazing how much detail is still there. I can't remember my sister's birthdays but I remember this. Nice find.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

Hehe. Nice.

Not only all of that, but the guy channels Bill Burr from 15:12 to 15:20.

The show was retitled Wonderful World of Disney starting in 1967, after Walt died in late 1966. He hosted the program himself until he died.

Kurt Russell sure got a variety of roles over the years. Jungle boy on Gilligan Island, young ruler in training in Lost In Space in 1966, comedic college student in the late 1970s, Antarctic scientist in The Thing, and doing the movie Stargate.

Yeah, Kurt Russell is a pretty good actor, versatile. Any one who can be as tough as Snake Plissken in Escape From New York (and L.A.), and as funny as he was in Captain Ron, is doing a good acting job.
