There are, of course, some solutions to the dilemma. One is to hire a producer to produce what is wanted. Yes, that is expensive The other is to become a producer and make it oneself. That is, obviously, more expensive. And that brings us back to the second point above.
I'm pointing to a trend I see, not just about my personal tastes. And I'm not really commenting about commercial fetish producers, whose constraints we have already covered, but things like stories and drawings people post, which cost them nothing more than time and passion to make.
They are not under the same pressure to always cut to the chase, or to avoid complex emotions and motives and plots that are difficult and expensive to direct and capture on film, but increasingly they do. It's not that there's any lack of creative energy either - people are always coming up with ways to render ever more beautiful women, ever more enticing mires, in their drawings, 3D works, and AI gens; and story writers continue to come up with more vivid ways to describe how the quicksand slurps at the damsel's body. But less and less often do I see that energy going into the setting-up. And the payoff suffers for it.
I guess I've been spoiled by reading old Gothic romances with quicksand as a plot point. The trouble is there aren't very many of them! And yes, I'm working on writing one. It's just going to take me awhile...!
