Some 25 years ago I did exactly that with a girl and a dog, in very similar place (newly dredged sand beach), and with a bunch of our friends sitting on a cliff in 20 meters from us watching and commenting. The purpose was to sink the dog. Surprisingly, the dog escaped in a moment after it was released, me was pretty successful too, and the girl after some struggle asked: "and who will help me?" When she realized that nobody is going to help, she got out on her own after a pretty intensive struggle.

But I can't recommend the place: the sand became stable many years ago, and the girls are not the girls already, too...
