fall guy story film quicksand

i was browsing thru some old annuals in a bookshop recently and found these in a fall guy annual based on the tv series with lee majors! so def had to buy it! bargain at 60p!
the pic was the give away but what is more fun is its a film quicksand and discusses what they use in place of real sand or mud!
sadly the quicksand pit makes no other appearance in the story so its usage is strangely gratuitous... was the writer one of us?
