Quicksnow?

I ran across an old Russian (Soviet?) public-domain film from 1957 with an interesting scene. Interesting to us that is.

LINK: http://youtu.be/q8t8fZ1MQ-w
(Scene begins at the 49 minute, 52 second mark)

It appears to be some sort of low-budget fairy tale film of a bad-mannered princess that gets kidnapped by a bear-like creature and forced to live on the woods, where she learned to be good.

In one scene she is gathering moss when some sort of woodland creature (a horse with antlers and a bad wig tied to his head...like I said, Low Budget) wanders into the scene, walking towards us in a wide trench. Suddenly some runty guy hiding up on the hill, a midget Jack Frost if you will who's been a pest the whole movie, makes it snow. The snow deepens and the deer-horse (Dorse?) starts having trouble keeping footing.

The girl, now humbly outfitted in a plain peasant dress and bare feet, sees this and climbs into the trench to assist, soon finding herself sinking in a very quicksand-like situation. Her struggles are great, and she does a full submersion. No grim endings here.

Hope you enjoy.

I dunno what she's complaining about when the midget changed her appearance a quarter into the movie. She still looks hot. But yeah, she did a good job sinking.

That was pretty neat. Reading further in the description on youtube, the poster said it is an East German film dubbed in Russian, of all things... impressive set decoration, for sure. :)

Clearly out of the same stable as The Singing Ringing Tree, which I remember from way back when.

This was shown on the BBC in England back in the 60s; my understanding was that it was an old Nazi-era film made by UFA and shown in cinemas in serial form; it was supposedly recut to remove any anti-semitic references and shown in East germany postwar; why the "Beeb" bought it (they called it "The Singing Ringin Tree") is beyond me; Jane Horrocks (a comedienne) did a very funny parody (Das Singen Ringen Plinken Plonken Shaken Rattelen und Rollen Baumen).
