Or help lose, if looking at it from Custer's point of view...

Re: Return to the Swamp of Scenes
I think the only role played by quicksand at the Little Big Horn River was that it served to sort of channel where Custer's force could go. In this respect, and I am stretching things a tad, it played the same role in the second Battle of El Alamein. The Quattara Depression (which has some quicksand) anchored the British left flank and forced Rommel into a direct attack. Obviously, of course, the Quattara Depression was a lot more than just quicksand, which is why I say I am stretching things. I am not certain but a geographic feature known as the Pripet Marshes may have played a similar role in Belarus and Ukraine in WWII.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 13 different producers. Info may be found at:

Re: Return to the Swamp of Scenes
I have edited out the on-topic scenes and spliced them into one. I tried to remove the interlace artifacts of the original, but was only partially successful.

I think this violates the TOS regarding age, even if it is just an animation.

Re: Return to the Swamp of Scenes
Late to the party on the Little Big Horn quicksand reference but that YouTube video leaves something to be desired. Only part of Custer's command, Troop E, known as the Grays as they all rode gray horses, attempted to cross at a river crossing ford north of Reno's diversionary attack but the ground was too boggy to cross. It was boggy and they withdrew without being able to cross. Had it been quicksand, they would have gotten stuck. After failing to cross the river, the Grays moved further north and rejoined the other Troops with Custer so the important aspect of this part of the battle is not whether it was quicksand or boggy ground but that it channeled Custer's command further north to the next ford.
Note that recent scholarship based on numerous Indian accounts that were essentially ignored by historians until recently indicates a very different understanding of the battle than previously. Not that I have a degree in military history or anything (I do), but, Custer came very close to winning the Battle of the Little Bighorn because he understood that the way to win a battle against Indians was to capture their women. His move north that put him out of support range of Reno and Benteen's commands could still have worked had he captured the women in one of the larger Indian camps located just on the other side of then next ford north in the same manner that he had won the Battle of the Washita.
However, when Custer attempt to charge across the next ford, he was one of the first casualties and the charge faltered. If his command had run away immediately, many would probably have survived but whoever assumed command instead took up a defensive position on higher ground, presumably awaiting help that had no chance of reaching them. What is definitely known is that Custer's body was found unmolested with a bleeding bullet hole just below the heart showing it didn't immediately kill him and a fatal one in the head. He was probably shot in the chest leading the charge and then shot dead by one of his brothers to avoid capture and torture when the final position was overrun. It would have been better if he were shot dead in the charge as it is possible his brother, Captain Thomas Custer, failed to order a full retreat knowing his brother would not survive a prolonged high speed ride.
