Checkmate Quicksand Scene

Postby mudmaiden » Wed Feb 24, 2016 5:17 am

Hello. There was a 1950's tv show called Checkmate. There was a scene where this man got stuck in quicksand. He was seen grabbing some straws to breathe when he went under before he could be rescued. If anyone has any resources on it I'd would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

From "Valley Of Mystery" : Don't struggle and do not thrash around; that just makes things worse!

If you have $42 burning a hole in your pocket the entire box-set is on Amazon :)

I'm not sure skipping through 58 hours will be rewarding though!

There is an entry for this in version 28 of Crypto's List but there is nothing to give a clue as to which episode has the quicksand scene. There is an episode called Jungle castle, which is suggestive but far from conclusive. Another suggestive episode title is Goodbye Griff.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

The Jungle Castle is a big clue. The episode describes a group of people roaming around in a Malaysian jungle.

BINGO. Here is a scene description that settles the issue: "Checkmate travels all the way to Malaya or at least two thirds of it. Lee Marvin, industrial tycoon who spends a lot of time maintaining a macho image calls on his old friend Sebastian Cabot to spend some time with him as someone is trying to kill him. He does not exclude his estranged wife Patricia Donahue nor the young girl he's throwing her over for Myrna Fahey.

Marvin thinks of himself as an Ernest Hemingway type. But let's just say it's a tough image to constantly maintain. The best part of the episode was Cabot and Doug McClure rescuing him from quicksand. Good thing they were around, but wait to see how resourceful Marvin is.

This might have been better with a two hour format. The characters were poorly developed a bit more time might have helped. And the jungle back lot sets were not terribly convincing.

If anyone is still maintaining Crypto's List, the episode nae would be a good addition.
