isnt there any way that the sites content could be put on this site instead? i mean one site could be enough.

That was discussed early in the creation of this site. It was deemed impractical for several reasons.

Also bear in mind that it's largely up to the creators to choose where they put their content.

Exactly. That was one of the reasons. We couldn't get the other material without the cooperation of the sites themselves.
