Old Story About a Swimming Pool of Mud?

Hello, this may be a long shot but I am looking for a story that I read quite a while ago (I think before this site?). It was about a woman whose pool fills up with mud after a mudslide.I think there was something about her husband being away from work, and I'm pretty sure the ending was grim. I know it's not much, but that's pretty much all I can remember from it. If anyone knows anything I would love to find it again, but obviously I'm not holding my breath since I know so little about it. Thanks!
