Identify Two Movie Scenes

Postby Fred588 » Wed Nov 22, 2017 12:57 am

I have memories, and possibly false memories, of scenes from movies. It is possible they are false memories but I don't think so. One is a quicksand scene and the other is not, and I have tried many times to identify them without success. In both cases, my memory is that I saw these as teasers on Saturday morning television, possibly in the early 60s but much more likely in the late 50s. I will give ten free Studio scenes to anyone who can provide confirmable info on either of these.

1. The scene with quicksand, as I remember it, was a female victim. She had been force backwards into the mud by some sort of monster and the last portion I remember had her head under, and her arms sticking up going up and down alternately. For a long time I thought this was from the Tartu movie but when I purchased the DVD I learned it was not.

2. I believe I saw the other movie all the way through but it would have to have been on Saturday morning TV, as we did not have the money to go to the theater then. The scene I remember was near the very end and was a fall from a cliff. The movie was some sort of jungle flick with a hero who was pursuing a female who had committed some sort of offense. At the very end, for reasons I do not recall, the female was standing on a rock outcrop high up on a sheer rock wall, and was going to jump. The hero tries to talk her out of it, but just as she agrees the rock ledge breaks and she falls.

Anyone have any info?

Those both sound cool.... but I can't recall those particular scenes... If I do come across a reference, I'll pass it along.

Thanks. As I said I think there is a reasonable chance the quicksand scene might be a false memory, or perhaps an amalgamation of two or more things. The cliff scene, however, I suspect is real. I have often wondered if the movie with that scene might have been broadcast in error as it was pretty intense for Saturday morning children's TV, even in black and white. I have also wondered if the cliff was just a cliff or whether perhaps it was the edge of a volcanic crater. I don't recall it being a volcano however.

Any chance the first one is From Hell It Came? The monster, the woman going under with her arms upraised, both fit that scene.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

That was my other candidate along with the Tartu scene. But again, when I purchased the DVD it was not.

That one is much too recent. I was already 20 in 1970 when that was released and the one I (maybe) remember could not possibly be later than about 1960. I think more likely it is no more recent than 1958. But I really appreciate your trying to help.

Hi there! i also saw that end scene where she falls, and its the only part i remember because it was shocking, wasnt it possibly her grandfather
trying to talk and comfort her, i think it also showed her hitting the rocks and hitting the floor which was horrible, and you could hear the thud

as she hits the ground, i must have saw it around 94 to 97, im probably wrong on this but i think theres a film called "riverboat" or something similar,
you know the one where the girl accidently shoots a young boy, then runs off the boat into the forest and falls into a swamp? well when she cries

and begs for forgivness when they find her in the swamp, im sure ive heard her voise before, she was so good with sounding stressed and emotional and it stuck in my mind ever since, the scene i always think of is the one with the girl falling. not sure if rivrerboat is the name but i have it somewhere on a

wamtec dvd so i will find out the name and hopefully the acttress, but still unlikely and obvously not much to go on.

Thanks for trying. I doubt the one you saw was the same one for two reasons. First, the timing. I saw the scene I recall about 36 to 40 years earlier. Second, I don't remember anything about a quicksand scene in the cliff fall movie. I believe the "riverboat" scene was an early movie with Buddy Ebsen.
