An Unusual Request (Sound Effects)

Alright, here's a bit of an unusual one. I'm not looking for a clip, story, or photo.

I'm looking for a sound effect.

Basically, I'm sure just about everybody on this board has seen the quicksand scene from the cartoon, Detention. Well, the noise used for the mud's suction is something I've been looking for, maybe for about the last year, but to no avail. I've scoured sound search engine sites, even looked at pay-per-download shops, and still no luck.

So, now I turn to you guys. Has anybody got the sound I'm looking for? If you're reading this, I hope you've got it buried in your endless archive of quicksand material...

Have you checked out Soundrangers yet? Because I found this:

http://www.soundrangers.com/index.cfm?f ... t_ID=34736

It may not be the exact sound but it seems close enough.

While it's close, I'm looking for one with those bubbling, oozing noises in it.

While I am not familiar with the exact effect you want, allow me to suggest that perhaps you can put together what you want from two or more components. Sometimes, also, you can make your own recording for all or part of an effect.

I've managed to compile about six or seven sound effects last night to sort of resemble what I'm looking for.

Thanks for you help, this topic can be locked now.

Several years ago, I recorded some mud sounds during a recon trip.

I'm not sure if these will help you, but they may be useful for someone. You'll have to be patient with these files. They're not edited, and the good sounds may take a while to appear (although they should be easy to spot on a time line).

As for locking this thread, I think you'll find the mods reluctant to lock anything on the board - lest they be accused of being lock-happy. It doesn't matter that it is requested. Locks can be seen and counted without regard to cause or reason.

Try squeezing a handful of industrial hand degreasing gel (Swarfega or other similar) between two hands. Works for me!
