Quicksand Fans

I click on the spots marked "sink here", but I'm never able to get more then knee deep.

is there something I'm missing?

Some of the pits are so thick that you have to struggle, use the pg up and the pg down keys to do that, it will make you sink more.

How does quicksand cove work?
