Well, Bruce pretty much summed up how I feel about the tapes. Except for one exception, everyone has moved past taking cash for clips. But in my case, I'm still not sure if I ever covered my searching costs (you have to kiss a lot of frogs).
The whole clip tape thing was replaced with quicksandmovies.net. That absolutely
did cost me money out of pocket - usually between $200 and $300 a month in its heyday. That was me 'giving back' while working two jobs. Right now though, there isn't anything to give.
That's not to say that quicksandmovies.net won't come back. It will. And with current hosting deals, it won't cost me anything but time, which also doesn't exist. I was hoping to resurrect it this winter, but the move doomed that. So, I'm thinking that next winter will be the opportunity with that. If that 'sucks', please realize that there is a lot of stuff I'd like to be doing (digitally archiving) to my entire personal video library. I can't do any of it now. It's mostly in storage anyways.
So, hang in there, and enjoy the clips that I and others post. It's not a deluge. But it's not a drought either.
And, btw, everything that was ever on those tapes will be out there - and a lot more - and in better quality.
