After my previous adventure, I was quite concerned about my neck grinding and sensitivity. :? So, I waited slightly over two weeks for things to improve, but it stayed mostly the same. While my breathing hose submergence sinks may have provided the initial strain on my neck muscles without any pain, I am quite certain it was the downhill coasting, with my head held up high to see forward, and then even higher to see below my sun visor on my hat, craning my neck upward, all the while the bumps on the road shocking my neck for the duration of my coasting in that position, that put my neck over the edge! :? I did some research regarding cycling and neck problems, and bought a special extender to raise my handlebars so that my gaze is higher, and read that lowering my shoulders, lowering my head while looking up, moving my pelvis forward, and having my arms slightly bent, improves posture and reduces neck stress. Basically, I figured that if I was careful, my neck should be okay, but that meant no submergences in thick mud. :( Thinner mud could be a possibility. :? So, I decided to go ahead with my bikeride! :) So, on Sunday, August 27'th, I had my 5'th adventure of the season! :D It was a clear day, with hardly any smoke, with our weather recovering from a recent temperature drop that had things feeling fall-like for a couple days, but back to summer heat now! :D I was concerned about how much the top of my Crescent Road pond bog might have dried out, and whether I would have trouble loosening it up! :?

Once again, my dad dropped me off at a bend on Crescent Road, just past the worst of a climb. My original plan was to go to my Crescent Road pond, and spend the morning, and perhaps early afternoon, in the thick bog making a video and then doing some mushing up and smoothing out of the surface. Then, in the afternoon, I would shoot a video in the "treacherous" shoreline on the south side of that pond. But, first thing that morning, before reaching my Crescent Road pond, I just couldn't resist checking out the hidden liquid mud and sticks pond to see what all this hot dry weather had done to that! I swapped memory cards in my camera, and at the hidden pond, just as I had anticipated, I found a lot more mud exposed! :D I was very intrigued, and wondered if the exposed mud further away from the shore that was rarely exposed would be free of all the submerged logs choking the mud closer to shore that was normally exposed in other normal years. I took some photos of the exposed mud:

My August 27'th Adventure, Part 3 (Click Here For The Beginning With More Pix)!

The mud looked way too inviting, especially on the southern shore, especially on the western part of the south side! :D In one place, jumping on a log on the surface made the surface of the mud quake and pulsate like crazy! I stuck a long stick into the mud, but the mud in that spot was too thick to really measure from the angle it was poked in at, and I couldn't get closer without my shoes sinking into the soft ground.

I decided that I *HAD* to try out the mud there, and on camera! :D So, I returned to my bike, got out some things, including my Gorillapod and junk shorts in a bag, and headed back to the western part of the south shore with a good expanse of mud, with some logs exposed on top. I set up the camera with the Gorillapod on tree branch leaning over the mud, changed into my junk shorts, and removed my glasses in the remote chance I decided to go under (the trees are right up to the water/mud, providing lots of shade to make things cooler, and it was still morning)! I had the area framed in my camera, hit the record button, and I was ready! :D No telling what was going to happen with this mud! :D

I headed to the southwest side, and crawled onto the log parallel to the south shore onto the mud flat. I first stepped into the mud on the side closer to the pond, and sunk down a bit, with the mud bubbling around me! But, even out there, it was still a tangle of logs and branches a few feet underneath the mud, which I could stand on! :x But, I still found spaces in between the logs to sink down in, without feeling any bottom! :D But, I decided that I didn't want to sink too far up my abdomen because the mud was on the cold side, and I was concerned about the cleanup water being cold, although I never checked it out. :? After some brief wallowing in the mud on the north (pond) side of the log, I climbed over the log to test out the mud on south (shore) side of the log, where it was thicker. It farted swamp gas, and was also choked with logs and branches underneath, but also with spaces where I could sink deeper. But, once again, I didn't want to sink too far because I didn't feel like having to clean my upper body this early in the day. During my exploration of the mud, I had problems with branches scratching me. :x I quickly headed back to the looser stuff on the north (pond) side of the log, finding more spaces in between the submerged logs to sink in. After trying multiple spots there, I finally returned to the mud on the south (shore) side of the log, and tried out several spots there, before finally heading back to solid ground. I cleaned my hands using moss, since water was only accessible via crawling onto logs sticking out into the pond. I stopped the recording, and turned off the camera.

My August 27'th Adventure, Part 4 (Click Here For The Beginning With More Pix)!

Now, it was time for me to try out other spots more quickly, this time off-camera. I first headed out into a section of exposed mud on another spot on the south side further to the east, finding it was also packed with submerged logs. Heading northward (counterclockwise) along the east side, I looked at various areas and passed them by, because they didn't look the best, finally deciding to try out a spot towards the northern part of the east side. It was also where some logs went out into the water, some underwater, which would allow for easy cleanup.

I removed my junk shorts and set it down in a patch of bog cinquefoil closer to shore, and tested the mud around there, which was also full of logs and sticks. I knelt down in one thick spot, sinking my knees into the mud, and leaned forward, with my sinking knees starting to straddle a buried log. I had a stimulating struggle there, before getting out. I grabbed my muddy junk shorts, crawled onto a log submerged underwater, and sat down on the log and cleaned my upper body and the junk shorts, happy to find that the water wasn't cold at all! :) I was sitting on the submerged log in shallow water, with my legs submerged in the muddy bottom. I then sat up on a higher log sticking out of the water to clean the lower part of my body, and finished cleaning my junk shorts. For convenience, I put the junk shorts back on, before crawling over the log to a wider part, where I was able to walk on top of, back to shore and solid ground. I still had some mud on my feet, though. I returned to the western part of the south shore where all my things were and I had shot my bog wading/exploration. I cleaned my feet off with moss, got dressed, and took photos of where I had waded through the mud full of logs. It was already around 12:30 pm:

I was all scratched up, from all the scraping against the submerged logs/branches, with some slight bleeding, but not much, mostly just red scratches. It was a shame that the mud was so full of logs and sticks, since it would have been such a wonderful place to play in! But, if the logs were removed, then the level of the mud would probably drop down by around 6 inches to a foot, staying below water level, even during the dry years! :?

My August 27'th Adventure, Part 5 (Click Here For The Beginning With More Pix)!

I finally headed to Crescent Road pond, once again concerned about signs of tires tracks on the beginning of the sideroad, only to be relieved that the sideroad was undisturbed slightly further up, just like before (perhaps they were the same tracks). :) I dropped my bike off at its usual place, by a tree on the southwest part of the small clearing to the north of the pond. I noticed that there was a widely spread cowpie to the west of where I laid my bike down, which was relatively new, due to its color and the fact it wasn't there two weeks ago, but it was dried out. I then noticed a second cowpie to the east of my bike, making me concerned about increased cattle activity around the pond and my bog. :? I sat down on a rock and had lunch (Pizza Pops and a Sweet & Salty bar and Kool-Aid), and then gathered my things, including a swim cap for clean hair in case I submerged, swim goggles in case I submerged, and my still wet junk shorts in a bag with my Gorillapod. I then headed to my spot, concerned about an animal trail heading along that side of pond (unless it was actually my trail).

When I reached my bog, the surface had deep cracks, and was turning dry and white on top in the middle, mostly the western half, as if someone sprinkled icing sugar in places. Seeing that made me a bit concerned about the stiff layer being too hard to work. :? I set my things down beside some alder bushes, put my junk shorts on another alder to the northeast in the meadow to dry, and took some photos, starting at 1:42 pm:

Ready to get things started, I returned to my bog and removed the sticks, laying them in the grass in order this time to allow for less guesswork as to where to put then back. It was already 2:05 pm when I started taking a couple more photos of the bog without the sticks, except for the one I used for mounting the camera/Gorillapod on:

My August 27'th Adventure, Part 8 (Click Here For The Beginning With More Pix)!

Now, I was finally ready to make my sinking video! :D But, due to my neck sensitivity, I didn't want to take any chances with a submergence in such thick mud for fear of worsening any neck problems, which was such a shame, because I had been waiting FIVE YEARS for mud this thick to swallow me whole! :x So, I had to do a scene where I sink to my shoulders before discovering a string attached to something that was buoyant (a large pool noodle cut into 4 pieces and bound with strings, rolled in an onion sack, and then enclosed inside a garbage bag with thick bale twine wrapped around it, and more bale twine attached to it), which I could pull myself out with! I got the string attached to the "package" all muddy on the edge of pond to try and make it camouflaged, but it didn't quite look right, still immediately noticeable. Then, I stuffed the string in a crack in the mud, and covered the crack with mud, leaving a short piece of muddy string sticking out, which looked great! I got the camera set up with the Gorillapod on a stick, which I had set in a spot further back than its usual place, so that it could get a good view of the bog. I kept my glasses on due to me not submerging, and was ready to begin! :D

I hit the record button, and then the wind just HAD to come up, forcing me to wait briefly for the wind to die down, since I didn't want the wind to block out the sound. :x Then, I started my scene, and was actually able to walk lightly on top of the stiff surface on the west side, and it held my weight (although I was still slowly sinking down)! When I stepped into the middle, it was softer, and my feet sunk through the top layer a bit more quickly. I began struggling on camera, pushing down on the stiff surface around me, with chunks only being pushed under, the mud around me slowly getting mushier and mushier from my struggles. After I got shoulder deep, I found the end of the string sticking out of the mud to my left and pulled on it, dragging a makeshift flotation device towards me. I then used it to work myself out, encountering some pain in my right elbow. I escaped, headed to the water, cleaned my hands, and went to stop the recording. When I looked at the camera, it was deja vu all over again! The screen was black? WTF? :x Pressing the record button to stop the recording did nothing, because the camera shut off, just like during one of my breathing hose sinks! :x Checking things out, the battery was okay, since I had made certain that it had full charge before leaving! Quickly viewing the video on fast forward, I discovered that the recording ended with me around armpit depth, with the remaining struggling and rescue not being recorded! :x Upon closer inspection, I realized that I had run out of all 16 GB of memory card space! :x So, I had to delete one video to make space and chose the "Can't Escape Fate" one, which was already saved on computer, anyways. Then, I decided that I could redo the last part, so I hid the string except for the end again in the same crack and covered it with mud, cleaned my hands, and started recording part 2! :) I stepped back into my spot, sunk myself quickly back down to chest level, and resumed the scene, playing it out to the end. After it was finished, I cleaned my hands, stopped the recording, and took a photo of the bog with the disturbed center at 3:09 pm:

2017 08 27 5ZE Crescent.jpg

Instead of cleaning off right away, I proceeded to have some fun in the bog. I stepped into the northeastern part, sinking down gradually through the stiffer upper layer, into the softer, doughy muck below. I struggled, savoring its feel and grip on my body, slowly sinking to chest deep, before having a stimulating struggle. I pushed the surrounding stiffer surface layer around me down into the doughy muck below, worked myself up back onto the surface, and then proceeded to push the stiff surface layer under using my feet, going counterclockwise, starting in the northeast side. I found it much easier to use my feet, since I was putting my weight into it, than to push down with my hands, although I did use my hands a bit as well. The crust seemed scratchy in places, mostly in the very wafer-thin layer on top where it was dry and almost rock hard. I continued mushing up the surface, counterclockwise, all the way around the center part where I had already mushed it up in my video, until the entire surface was a real jumbled mess! I got out, cleaned my hands, and took a photo of the patch of extremely disturbed muck at 3:48 pm:

2017 08 27 5ZF Crescent.jpg

Now, I felt like enjoying the mud again! I first sunk myself into the softer center, where I slowly struggled down until the voracious ooze sucked me down to my chest. I loved the feel of the doughy softness embracing my body, and struggled there for a little while, before working myself back up, along with some more struggling and sinking a little back down, before working myself up all the way to the surface. I then crawled over to the east part, choosing a spot just south of where I had the enjoyable sink before the mushing of the surface. I stood up, with the thicker upper part giving way, pinning my legs together, giving me that stuck and sinking feeling! :D As I struggled, the upper part of the mud was so thick that I was able to have it separate from my abdomen when I leaned one way or the other, and my movements allowed air to be trapped and released, resulting in the mud making farting sounds around me! :D I once again struggled to around chest deep (it was a shame I had to limit my sinking depth because of my neck), and had another stimulating struggle. Then, I worked myself back up a bit, and smoothed the mud around me. I had noticed a deep depression in the southeast section had filled with water, meaning that there was something allowing water to ooze through the mud. I worked myself all the way out, and proceeded to smooth the surface counterclockwise, starting on east side, until it was all smoothed out, although the center was higher than the sides (the sides were previously higher, so this will even things out). I cleaned my hands and took another couple of photos at 4:31 pm, just as shadows from the forest were starting to creep over everything:

My August 27'th Adventure, Part 9 - Conclusion (Click Here For The Beginning With More Pix)!

I was finally finished with all my mudplay for the day, and was ready to clean up! Because the water on the edge of the floating vegetation was too shallow for cleanup by my sinking spot, I had to take my junk shorts and head to the tiny pond on the south end, with a gravel shore/bottom (covered with sediment). On the way over there, I stopped to look at the "treacherous" shoreline on the south end of the larger pond, wishing that I could have sunk there. I then headed over to the tiny pond, crossing the exposed mud on the western side, the one with the spring and clay along the edge, only sinking a few inches in the thick mud. I cleaned myself off in the tiny pond, sitting on a submerged log, legs buried in silt, and found that it was a mistake not cleaning up earlier, because the dried-up mud seemed to bond with my skin, with it taking a lot of scrubbing to remove it. But, using my junk shorts to scrub my skin worked nicely! :) After cleaning myself from my shoulders down to my crotch, I then cleaned my junk shorts, and put them in the grass on the shore. But, since there was a few feet of sediment on the bottom, my legs were still quite muddy, and so I had to clean them in a spot just to the west, where the sediment wasn't as deep. However, because I didn't want to dirty my junk shorts again, I found it difficult to get the scum off my legs. I grabbed some weeds in the water to scrub my legs with, and saw what looked like a cherry pit. I wondered what a cherry pit was doing there, until I realized it was a tiny clam! I put it back in the weeds, and used some weeds to scrub my legs, getting them clean. Heading back, my feet got muddier from crossing the mud patch (the one with a spring and clay on the edge), which was so thick that I didn't sink much. And then, I accidentally stepped through a soft spot in the grass closer to the "treacherous" shoreline, getting my lower leg(s) muddy. I returned to the area around my bog, put my junk shorts on an alder bush in the sun to dry, and cleaned my legs off in water coming up through the vegetation near the pond when my weight pushed them down below water level. I put my makeshift flotation device and string back away, set up the sticks around the bog again, in the same order they were in before, and added some more for good measure. I then took some final photos at 5:38/5:39 pm:

2017 08 27 5ZI Crescent.jpg

2017 08 27 5ZJ Crescent.jpg

I got dressed, except for my shoes and socks, because my feet were still wet with debris sticking to them. While waiting for my feet to dry, I watched the videos I had shot on camera, and then swapped memory cards. With my socks and shoes on, I gathered my things, took another look at my bog, wondering if I would see it again this season. I returned to where I had my things to make certain I didn't leave anything behind, and took yet one more look at my bog, thinking how it looked sooo innocent, but if I stepped in it, I would be all messy again, with a big cleanup all over again! The sun was getting low, with the shadows of the trees all over the west shoreline. I gathered my junk shorts, returned to my bike, laid the junk shorts briefly on tree branches in the southsoutheastern part of the clearing, put my things away in my bike, and headed out, putting my junk shorts on the back of my bike on the way.

On the road, I snacked on a Sweet & Salty bar, took an anti-inflammatory, snacked on a Dipps bar, and was very careful biking so as not to stress my neck. I tried calling my dad from the top of the hill, but lost the connection. Further down the hill, I managed to contact him, hoping that he could pick me up before I finished the neck vertebrae-rattling descent, but I still made it out of the mountains and into the valley before my dad picked me up!

The day didn't turn out quite the way I had planned. Originally, I had planned on having the sink/rescue scene in the thick stuff, followed by the mushing up of the surface, in the morning. Then, for the afternoon, I was considering the possibility of a dramatic submergence sink in the treacherous shoreline on the south side of the pond. But, because I couldn't resist trying out the more extensively exposed muck in the hidden liquid mud and sticks pond, I wound up bumping the thick mud sink/rescue into the afternoon, and had no time for any potential submergence sinks in the "treacherous" shoreline on the south end. Perhaps next time, if there is a next time, unless I use the next outing to gather exposed mud in a bucket to transfer to the bog to build it up higher to make it exposed and thickening earlier in the year for future seasons. :?

I was disappointed that I had run out of space on my memory card, because I didn't realize I had recorded so much sinking activity! But, the re-take turned out okay, although I realized that the original was zoomed in, and I had forgotten to repeat the zooming in for the re-take. :?

After my adventure, I was sore all over, especially my waist, as well as my shoulders, but things settled down, or at least some things. My abdominal muscles were extremely sore from pressing down on the flotation package during my "self-rescue" in my video, an action that was similar to my mushing of the bur reeds that had taken over my bog last year, which initiated the pain in the first place! But, I had to do my "self-rescue" scene not once, but twice, due to the memory card filling up! :x So, I strained those muscles twice as much! Fortunately, the soreness has subsided, but still almost a week later, I still feel some sensitivity. :? My right hip has been sore lately, and hasn't really improved, which concerns me.

My neck was a bit more sensitive, but it seemed to settle down over a day or so, or so I thought, although it still grinds and clicks. I saw my doctor, and he thinks that my neck strain triggered arthritis, and that a soft lump at the bottom of the back of my neck is just bone. :? The bottom of the back of my head hurts more in the evenings while on the computer, especially when I look between my keyboard and my screen, and the accompanying crackling in the base of my skull, I can really feel, and gets achy. :x But, in the morning when I take anti-inflammatories, it seems to go down, and I feel more normal. To help further reduce stress on my neck during biking, I got a second extension to my handlebars, which allows me to sit even more upright yet, and my seat was raised to increase my efficiency (but slightly lowers the relative position of my raised handlebars). I think the remaining issue is my helmet, because while riding my bike, I feel stress in my neck, which disappears when I use one hand to lift the helmet up from my head. Also, once again, when coming home from getting work done on my bike, the wind came up from the north that gave me a lot of resistance, and stress to my neck. I hate headwinds! :x

I am torn between going on more adventures, or stop risking further stress to my neck. :? I wanted to attempt a submergence sink in the thick stuff, and dig the thick mud away from my head to free it when I am ready to escape, pushing both hands on the back of my head to support it as I worked myself up. :? I don't know if that would work, but everything is up in the air. Now, with less than a week before the hot weather breaks down, and Hunting Season starting on September 10'th, there is time for at least one more good sinking adventure, although there are possibilities for lesser adventures after that. :? But, one thing that concerns me is the fact that they are now starting a VOLUNTARY closure of all wilderness areas in southern BC, where people are asked to stay out, but for those who do go in, to be mindful of the dry conditions, and be careful. That is only one step away from MANDATORY closures, which if implemented, would mean I would have to wait until some time in October before I have another chance to sink, but at that time, there is usually frost on the ground in the morning in the higher elevations! So, I need to get back up there while I still can, on a day that is convenient for my dad to take my back up into the mountains.

I am leaning towards only having one more bikeride, to build up the level of my bog, while all the extra mud is exposed, and then, hopefully, my neck will recover by next summer, and I will try doing strengthening exercises to prepare it for next season. Decisions, decisions... :?

On Tuesday, September 5'th, I had my 6'th (and possibly final) outing of the season! I was still concerned about my neck clicking and aches and soreness but I tried to take further steps to alleviate my neck stress further. I had my handlebars raised again with a post extension in addition to the previously bought handlebar angle adjustment, and had my seat raised to improve performance, although it reduced the added gain in handlebar height a bit. :? I wanted go on Monday, a nice, sunny, hot day, but my dad didn't want to take me then. :( I couldn't go on Wednesday or Thursday, because of a CT scan Thursday (the final cardiovascular test to rule out Marfan's Syndrome), and I needed a day of recovery from my bikeride before the CT scan because I needed to be well hydrated for an IV of contrasting fluid, which would need to be flushed out of my body quickly afterwards. After that, a cold front would go through Friday, and our weather pattern would change from hot and dry to more normal cooler weather, with some showers. And, on Sunday, Sept. 10'th, hunting season begins!

I hoped Tuesday would be sunny just like Monday, but it wound up being partially cloudy, with smoke! :x To help further reduce my neck stress, I decided to take my chances and not use my bicycle helmet, to lighten the load (312 g) on my head/neck. I knew that if I had an accident, I could wind up with a brain injury, or even death, but I felt that if I had to wear a helmet, I wouldn't be able to go at all without making my neck worse! :? Because of my neck problems, I decided that this would be my last outing of the season, and then concentrate on healing. So, for this final outing, I planned on prepping my bog for next year by moving mud from other spots to the main bog, which would allow it to become exposed and subsequently thicken earlier in the season. I wasn't certain whether I would try out the "treacherous" south shoreline or not, but I would see!

My dad dropped me off at the usual bend past the worst part of the climb up Crescent Road, and I was on my way! :D I was concerned about cattle being in the area, since I could see their tracks on Crescent road, but no cattle so far. :) I turned onto the sideroad, being concerned about tire tracks that seemed to go further up the road than before, but still stopped just a little ways in. :? There were also signs of cattle on that sideroad, which made me concerned. I thought I heard mooing in the distance. I walked my bike down the sidetrail to the clearing north of the pond, noticing a couple of fallen dead thin trees across the earlier part of the path that weren't there last time. In the clearing, I discovered fresh cowpies, and, in the bushes on the western and northwestern part of the clearing, were cattle!!!! :x So, out of all the places in the bush, cattle just HAD to be in the area of my pond/bog!!!! :x I just hoped that they wouldn't be a problem. :? I laid my bike against a tree instead of on the ground so none of the nearby cattle would step or poop on it. :? After swapping memory cards in my camera and deleting another video which was already saved to computer, I gathered my things, including my junk shorts, Gorillapod, camera, bottle of Kool-Aid, and even swim goggles in case I did go underbog in the "treacherous" south shoreline. I headed to my sinking spot, putting my stuff in their usual spot beside some alders, and at 10:28 am, took a couple of photos of my thick bog, that once again had a cracked drying surface, with sticks partially surrounding it to keep cattle out:

I then removed all the sticks except for the one I use for the camera, although I didn't think I would be using it. I was concerned about removing the sticks with cattle in the vicinity, since with cleanup and lunch and possibly sinking into the "treacherous" south shoreline, my bog would be unattended. :? I just hoped that they would not come anywhere near the bog while it was unattended. :? I took another couple of photos of it at 10:37 am:

Now, I was ready to have a fast sink that I had been dying to do for some time! :D I got undressed at my things near a clump of alders, walked north, and then southward through the meadow close to the pond, imagining that I was carefully negotiating a dangerous bog which catches people off-guard and sucks them under. I passed by small bottomless patches of muck, and then one larger one on the edge of the pond, at which point, I quickly headed away from it, straight into my thicker bog with the cracked surface! Facing east, my feet got sucked down, followed by my legs, which slowly disappeared, and then my waist, imagining that my fate was sealed, that no matter how much I struggled to escape, I would only be sucked in deeper, that the thick muck would soon close over my head and suffocate me, and then it would continue to suck my body down deeper and deeper until it is unrecoverable! As I struggled, swamp gas would fart out around me, as well as gas trapped between my skin and the doughy mire as I struggled, which I loved! :D To my front left, swamp gas was hissing out of one of the cracks in the thick muck. It was nice and doughy creamy beneath the cracked stiff surface. While in the mud, I noticed that the cattle that were to the north of the pond were now on the west side, a close distance away, too close to my bog for comfort, and some were watching me stuck and struggling in the muck! I struggled to my mid-abdomen (I didn't want to get too deep, since it was still morning and slightly cool, and I wanted a faster cleanup), and pushed my hands and arms straight down along my sides into the creamy softness below, which greatly enhanced the experience, since more of my body was in contact with the sucking mire, before struggling more and achieving full stimulation! :D Then, I worked myself up out of the mire without any lingering, because I had work to do, namely building the height of the mire up!

After I got out, I had to get cleaned up right away before the mud dried on my skin. I tried sitting on the vegetation mat (tiny rushes?) on the edge of the pond nearby, and rubbed my back on the abrasive vegetation to remove the scum that the thick mud always left. But, because the bottom was exposed along much of the edge of the shoreline, or close to being exposed, I had to head to the tiny pond on the far south end, to properly clean up. But, when I tried cleaning up in the water there, it was uncomfortably cold, shrinking my nuts and making them ache! The lack of sunshine was really slowing down the heating of the water! :x Last time, I cleaned off early in the day at the hidden liquid mud and sticks pond, and there was no smoke, with the sun shining brightly, and the cleanup water was already warming up! It was amazing how much difference the persistent smoke made! :x I wished I had come here one day earlier, when it was sunny and hot!

I managed to get myself cleaned down to my lower legs/feet, before I had to return to my sinking spot, and finishing the cleanup beside the pond there. But, as I was heading back, I noticed a black bull standing in the vicinity of my bog! Then, I noticed that there were TWO of them!  Both were slowly creeping closer and closer to the west side of my bog, but I got there just in time, as they were within a foot or so of the treacherous quagmire! They backed away when I got there, but I was getting even more concerned about leaving that area for any period of time! :? I cleaned my legs and feet in water that rose up through the floating vegetation near the edge of the pond. I think that was when I got dressed, perhaps except for my shoes (memory of that moment was vague). :? I took a photo of my thick doughy quagmire with the stiff cracked surface that was disturbed by my sinking, at 11:32 am:
