That looks pretty similar to some of my places but I checked your profile and...we're not exactly next door to each other!

Those boardwalks...they look just like that over here, and I've always wanted to just walk off one.

I've only gotten to do that once and it was pretty nice, but I was a little unhappy with the fact that the boardwalk just happened to be the only way in and out of the marsh. As in, it went out to the marsh and ended right there in the deep mud.

So I guess maybe mudding off that boardwalk is not such a good idea. I like a little more natural cover between me and the walkway.

I ogled all these beautiful pictures warming up for the holiday weekend here. I hope to get out and do something sinky. Looks like probably two out of the three-day weekend over here will probably be acceptable for mud, and hopefully if it's nice enough out, I will be able to shoot something.

Wow - I wish we had areas like these in SE Pennsylvania - no such luck. You're lucky if the stuff off the boardwalk is knee-deep around here. Nice pix and thanks for posting.

I'm going to visit these spots again in autumn after the amount of bugs and flies has hopefully reduced.
And regarding detection, when it has been rainy there are deep puddles along the trails and the planks get very slippery, in fact i have still never met another hiker when i went to this area for some action.

While summer sinking does allow for bare skin and balmy mud, I don't actually mind the autumn ventures myself. No, it's not good for clips and pictures, but you are right about the bugs and flies. After beating them off with immense amounts of DEET, not to mention my bare hands, all summer long, in October, they suddenly vanish!

I too have found that even a little rain keeps everybody out of the parks. Last weekend, I met not a soul while filming the final installment of "Bog Necklaces" at Poison Sumac Bog...one thing I'm not sure of though, since I'm not done editing it yet, is whether or not thunder will be audible anywhere.

One thing's for sure...I was the only human being who had any interest in being there.

I got out in time. It didn't really dump 'til I was on the road driving home.
