That is seriously one of the most amazing photos I've ever seen. I'm guessing that was somewhat peat-like in a wooded bog? Were you standing up when you sank?

Actually not peat like at all. Its freshwater drained lake mud. Very clay like. Very sticky and slurpy. That spot is very deep so I'm basically on tip toes. Its absolutey divine stuff.

I wasn't quite sure if it was peat, but the texture looks stickier and the color even suggests that it is clay. That is really amazing. I've seen so many great bogs and lake mud pits from the UK, but this particular area you have truly wants to make me arrange a trip out there. Being swallowed in that sort of clay mire while standing up is one of the best feelings in the world.

Wow - that looks a great spot! It is very nice to find somewhere that has deep mud of the right consistency that you can actually sink right in to (I have only ever found a couple of places near me that are like that - and unfortunately, they don't often stay that way).
Thanks for taking the time and effort to take photos and post them.
